Later, many Pride Landers turn up to see the battle against Pua and Makuu. Ultimately, Makuu succeeds in defeating Pua, who leaves the crocodile float. Makuu is then seen boasting about his new position as he leads his fleet into the lake, leaving Kion concerned for the Pride Lands' future.
After losing his tickbird, Mwenzi, Kifaru explains to the Lion Guard how he was only trying to reach Tamasha, an event which takes place near Lake Matope, where rhinos spar in the mud. The Lion Guard eventually task Ono with guiding him there while they go looking for Mwenzi.
But before he reaches the lake, Mwenzi returns and sees Ono being pally with Kifaru. This upsets the tickbird and he leaves, causing Ono to go after him. The Lion Guard guide Kifaru to the lake, but Ono returns with news of Mwenzi in trouble. After they rescue Mwenzi, the group all return to Lake Matope to enjoy Tamasha.
When Makuu's float are accidentally awoken during the Dry Season by Ono, Simba offers them a small watering hole to use. With Kiburi unsatisfied with the conditions of compromising, he calls for a Mashindano against Makuu. Many Pride Landers attend the event, including Simba's Pride. In the middle of the fight, Ono notices some of the crocodiles leaving the mashindano, and informs the rest of the Guard that Kiburi's minions are after Simba. But the attempt is quickly thwarted and Makuu wins the duel. Having heard what has transpired, Makuu tells the king he had no knowledge of the plot and watches Kiburi and his followers get banished from the Pride Lands by an outraged Simba.
