Not with that smelly hedgehog hanging around.

Jiona, The Harmattan

Hedgehogs are animals that appear in The Lion Guard universe. They live in the Pride Lands.

Appearance[]

In the Real World[]

Hedgehogs are small mammals with spines known as quills covering most of their bodies, which are made of hollow hair. Their coats are typically white, buff, tawny, or brown. They have slim muzzles that taper at the ends.

In The Lion Guard[]

The hedgehogs in The Lion Guard have creamy beige underparts and brown quills. The tips of their quills are a lighter yellowish color, and they have dark cream mask markings on their faces. Their paws are dull pink

Information[]

In the Real World[]

Hedgehogs use their quills for defense by rolling into a tight ball with the quills pointing outwards in order to protect their head, feet, and belly, which lack quills. This is their last form of defense, but it is typically the most successful. Hedgehogs are primarily nocturnal, and usually sleep in dens that are dug into the ground. Like the honey badgers, they have a natural immunity against snake venom.

History[]

Bunga the Wise[]

Bunga-the-Wise (863)

Fuli rescues a hedgehog

A hedgehog attempts to outrun the incoming flood. He is rescued by Fuli just in the nick of time, who manages to get him into the canyon. When the water catches up, he pleads with Bunga to save him, who refers everyone instead to Kion. The hedgehog cheers when the water retreats, and is seen happily enjoying the new watering hole with another hedgehog.

The Kupatana Celebration[]

The-Kupatana-Celebration (609)

Stolen food

During Jackal Style, a jackal pup steals a hedgehog's food when it's not looking. Later, during the Kupatana celebration, a hedgehog is among those enjoying the celebration. However, when Reirei's Pack attacks, the hedgehog is chased by one of the pups.

The Mbali Fields Migration[]
