The hares featured in The Lion Guard are scrub hares. They have gray-brown fur, with black ear tips. Their tails are black on top and white on the underside. They have sharp incisors.
Scrub hares have a sharp sense of smell and excellent hearing. Their diet consists of grasses, herbs, bark, roots, berries, and fungi. Other than humans, their main predators are snakes and birds of prey.
A hare is shown standing next to a hole, presumably the entrance to its den. It hops away, and immediately after Dogo jumps into the hole.
A hare is peacefully grazing when she hears the voice of Goigoi threatening to eat her. She runs to the Lion Guard for help. Ono startles her when he lands in front of her, but there is no sign of Goigoi. However, the hare points out that her leafy greens are gone, and says that the jackals must have eaten them.
A hare appears to be one of Mtoto's friends. She listens to Rafiki's story about the Zimwi. Later, when a Young Rhino thinks he sees the Zimwi, the trio runs to the Lion Guard for help, so the team sets out to find the frightening beast.
