Running wild! So small and furry, with long tails!

Thurston, Beware the Zimwi

Genets are mammals that appear in The Lion Guard universe. They live in the Pride Lands.

Appearance[]

In the Real World[]

Genets are agile viverrids with long bodies and tails. They have oval-shaped ears, short legs, a short dorsal crest, and large eyes. Their fur is pale yellowish-gray, brown, or gray. Their fur is patterned with a dark stripe down the spine, spots, tail tip, and tail bands. They have white muzzles, and there are white spots beneath their eyes.

In The Lion Guard[]

Genets have slim bodies, covered in pale yellow fur with white underbellies and muzzles. They have black stripes and spots on their body, and their tails are long, fluffy, black and white.

Information[]

In the Real World[]

Genets eat mostly rodents and insects, though they will eat grass to help with indigestion. There are three species of genets that exist in the wild: the small-spotted genet, the forest genet, and the large-spotted genet. The small-spotted genet is much smaller than the large spotted genet. It has distinct black and white markings and no rusty tinge. It has distinct white patches on the face below the eyes, which is less distinguished around the mouth and on the forehead.

They are nocturnal, and spend the daytime resting in trees. They hunt and feed on the ground. Being solitary animals, they come together only to mate. The female raises the cubs alone.
