Twice in the book Beshte is missing the hair on his head.
Multiple times in Return of the Roar, Janja, Cheezi, and Chungu's ear notches are all flipped. In addition to this Janja at one stage appears as a character resembling Shenzi, a character from the original movie, The Lion King.
On the twenty-sixth and thirty-third pages of Return of the Roar, Fuli's eyes are turquoise rather than green. Simba's design is replaced with Mufasa's.
On an early cover Ono and Fuli's Mark of the Guard are shown on their right side instead of their left. Although this was fixed for the final release, the Spanish release still shows Ono's Mark of the Guard on the wrong side.
On the cover for the French book ("Verte" edition), Ono was turned to the left and his Mark of the Guard has vanished.
Zazu appears on page 6 with Kiara and Kion approaching him, despite him having already left for Aminifu's funeral with Simba and Nala. On the next page Ono is with them instead.
Janja's ear notch appears on his right ear instead of his left.

Fuli is depicted lying on a tree branch, despite being unable to climb trees.
On the back of Kion's Animal Alphabet, the area between Kion's eyes and eyebrows is the same color as the area below his eyes instead of being darker than his main fur color.
When Kion performs the Roar, he performs it directly in front of Nala instead of directing it like he does in the episode. Despite her fur being pushed back, she is not knocked away with the crocodiles like she should have been.
On the first page of the comic, Janja is depicted with a red nose and with his ear notch on the wrong side. Additionally, he is shown to be to the right of Chungu, while he was shown as being to the left of him in the previous panel.
When choosing between Ono and Beshte's ideas, Kion's markings are vanished from his legs.
On the first panel, the two speech bubbles point to Beshte and Kion. However, when hearing about how they're the best Guard, Zazu answers Bunga, meaning the two speech bubbles should be pushed further right, since they actually belong to Kion and Bunga respectively.
Kion’s leg markings are also missing in this panel.
Also Simba's design resembles more his first movie colours.
In nearly every shot everyone's Mark of the Guard is missing the eye.
Also, when Zazu speaks of another challenge, Bunga's Mark of the Guard is on his right shoulder instead of his left. In addition to this, Fuli's legs aren't straight, they almost look like lightning bolts.
Throughout the comic, Kion is lacking his leg markings. In addition to this, Beshte has a notch in his right ear.
At various points during the comic, Bunga's Mark of the Guard is incorrectly colored dark blue. When Kion is about to use the Roar, and Fuli's Mark of the Guard is replaced with a circular marking.
On page 7, Ono is missing his Mark of the Guard. In addition to this, Beshte has a notch in his right ear. Finally, throughout the comic, Bunga's Mark of the Guard is colored a much darker blue than usual.
