As an infant, Bunga's appearance doesn't much except that he's smaller. Bunga's body is shown to be of a good build, and has a gray-blue fur all over, with a darker patch across his belly. He has muscular forelegs and a round face. His claws are more of a more dark royal blue color. Lining the undersides of his forelegs is pure white fur. This fur color is also present across his back, and continues all the way up to his forehead.
His eyes are very dark blue, with thick black eyebrows. His inner ears are pink, and his nose is dark magenta. Three slightly darker freckles can be found on either side of his face. He also appears to have a slight overbite. He has large front teeth with a prominent gap in between them.
His Mark of the Guard can be found on his left foreleg just like the other members, in a brighter tint than the rest of his coat.
Personality
Bunga is a brave honey badger who is usually seen leaping head first into action. As such, he is Kion's opposite in many ways. Bunga is often time reckless because he frequently leaps into danger, often without considering the consequences and improvising to the best of his ability. Because of this, it can sometimes take him time to grasp the seriousness of a situation. Bunga is aware of his courage, which he proved when he told Kion why he thought he should be a member of the Lion Guard. Adventurous and fun-loving, Bunga is willing to disobey rules and put himself at risk. He rarely exhibits seriousness and frequently jokes and teases. Director Howy Parkins described Bunga as a "strong comedic character".[1] However, Bunga can also be a fierce fighter, willingly taking on cobras, hyenas, vultures, and jackals. He generally has little respect for royalty, even going so far as to call Simba, the king, a big scaredy-cat[2], but occasionally displays great amounts of respect for them.[3] When kidnapped by hyenas, Bunga refused to give in, and, even when outnumbered, still shows immense bravery. This conveys that he is, as stated by Kiara, "brave bordering on stupid".[4]
He is a strong believer in "zuka zama"- "pop up and dive in". He uses this phrase quite frequently, and is eager to share what it means to others.[5] However, though this philosophy differs greatly from that of his uncles', he has also used the phrase "hakuna matata" multiple times and even sang the song Hakuna Matata when he was feeling downhearted.[6] He has a tendency to jump to conclusions before engaging in further thought.[7], and believes in quick and easy solutions[8]. Bunga also appears to be rather full of himself, and has been shown complimenting his flavor and his voice. He likes companionship, and loneliness does not suit him.[9] He does his best to please his uncles, Timon and Pumbaa. Despite his shortcomings, Bunga is loyal to Kion and the Lion Guard, and is always ready to help those in need. He is proud to be a member, and cares for all of his friends, though he is occasionally insensitive about their feelings.[10] In addition to his confidence in his own skills, he is also very positive about what the Lion Guard can take on.[11]
Bunga appears to have a knowledge of different fighting techniques, as he listed each move used by Pua and Makuu during the Mashindano.[12]. In this same thing, he appeared to greatly enjoy watching the fight, despite the solemn expressions of the Guard and the royal family. He also has a neglect for hygiene; in this way, he is very different from his egret friend Ono.
Bunga also has a soft spot for baby animals.
Bunga is a ball of energy who is always ready to have fun. He is somewhat of a comedian who likes telling jokes to his freinds in which they sometimes find funny.
When Bunga was very young, he didn't know his parents, as far as he can remember. One day, while rummaging for grubs, Bunga spotted Timon and Pumbaa searching for Utamu. He noticed several

similarities between himself and the two of them, and began to follow them. Pumbaa almost immediately wanted to keep him, but it was only after Bunga climbed to the top of a rotten tree for the sake of finding utamu grubs for Timon that Timon allowed Bunga to stay. They called him Bunga due to his foolish bravery.
Bunga is first criticizing his best friend Kion, who misses a pass. The two are playing on Pride Rock, where Kion's father, the ruler of the Pride Lands, Simba, is teaching his daughter Kiara about her future as queen of the Pride Lands. Kion and Bunga's game of Baobab Ball get in the way of his lesson, much to his sister's irritation. Bunga interrupts Kion's apology to his father, saying that Kion could not handle his pass. The two begin to fight over the baobab. After Simba points out the importance of the lessons, the two take their fun into the Pride Lands to avoid further disturbances. Bunga hurls himself off of the top of Pride Rock, curling himself into a ball and landing in a nearby tree, safe from harm.
The two continue their playing their game of baobab across the plains, but soon the baobab rolls off into the Outlands. Kion is hesitant to go down, since his father strictly prohibited him from venturing there. Bunga, on the other hand, has no fear of the Outlands, and gladly leaps down after calling Simba a scaredy-cat. However, shortly after reclaiming the fruit, two hyenas- Cheezi and Chungu- grab Bunga, and plan to hand him over to their leader, Janja, for his lunch.
Bunga shows little fear and even engages in a stare down with Cheezi, showing agitation when Chungu holds him back. However, when Cheezi finally stops taunting Kion and prepares to go "bring Janja his lunch", Bunga shows fright and repeats the last word. Worried for his friend's safety, Kion lets loose a huge roar, which leaves the hyenas in shock, and gives Bunga a chance to climb back to safety. Bunga is curious as to how his friend produced such an amazing roar, and Kion admits that he doesn't know how.

Excited Bunga
Meanwhile, Simba and Rafiki overhear the Roar. Simba at first does not believe that his son is ready, with him being a cub still. Kion and Bunga then arrive back at Pride Rock. Rafiki explains that Kion's roar was the Roar of the Elders, and that the Great Lions of the Past roared with him when he used it. Bunga responds to this, announcing that he saw lions in the sky. Simba and Rafiki lead them both to a secret lair hidden within Pride Rock- The Lair of the Lion Guard. At first, Bunga is confused. He queries, "It's a bunch of vines?" before Rafiki pulls back the plants to reveal the Lair. After Simba explains to his son that it is now his turn to lead the Lion Guard, Bunga grows very excited. He exclaims that it is "un-bunga-lievable" before exiting the Lair.
Kion doesn't hesitate to begin his mission, and immediately selects his friend Bunga, claiming that he doesn't know anyone braver than him. Bunga rushes to tell his uncles, Timon and Pumbaa and gets caught up with Kiara and her friends, Tiifu and Zuri, along the way. When Zuri falls off of a log, Bunga declares that he will save her, but is stopped by Kiara. Then he tells Timon, Pumbaa, Kiara, Tifu, and Zuri about the duties of the lion guard, and that he is now part of it. At first, Timon and Pumbaa are uncertain about letting Bunga join the guard after hearing the about the danger and work, so Bunga pleads with them. He admits that the Lion Guard is not hakuna matata, but instead zuka zama. Tiifu asks about zuka zama, and Bunga sings a song about it to explain. He then is able to convince Timon and Pumbaa to let him join the Guard.

The bravest
Meanwhile, Kion has assembled a group which he believes best fit the criteria for being a member of the Lion Guard, with Bunga still confirmed as his first member. This includes Fuli the cheetah, Beshte the hippopotamus and Ono the egret. Fuli wishes to see the fiercest member, to which Bunga encourages his friend to show her the Roar. Kion is hesitant, as he does not wish to abuse his power like Scar. However, when he attempts to use it just for this occasion, all he can manage is a tiny squeak. Bunga is astonished and certain that wasn't the roar he saw earlier. Simba then arrives to see the new Guard, but soon tells Kion that the Lion Guard has always been made of lions. Kion leaves the group to do some soul searching.
Just then, Bunga calls Kion, and tells him that the hyenas are attacking the herd of gazelles. Kion and Bunga then rush off to find the rest of the Lion Guard. Ono, Fuli and Beshte watch on, as Ono explains that Mzingo is telling the hyenas which one to attack next. They soon realize that the hyenas, having already killed two gazelles, are hunting for sport. Kion soon arrives, having heard their words, and tells them that he doesn't care if they're not all lions, and that this was the Lion Guard for him. Although Bunga is quick to leap in, he is stopped by Kion, who has a plan. The lion then goes against his father's wishes and places his paw on each of his friend's shoulders, to give them the Mark of the Guard. Bunga is happy to receive his Mark and puts a paw over it for a moment. Together, they rush into action.
The Guard quietly make their way down to the gazelles' grazing grounds, before launching a surprise attack with Kion at the front of the group. With Ono taking care of Mzingo, Bunga, Beshte and Fuli focus on the hyenas. Bunga leaps onto Chungu and covers his eyes. The hyenas soon start to make a desperate retreat. Simba, Nala, Tiifu and Rafiki arrive just in time to see the new Lion Guard chase the hyenas away.

The new Guard
Although they assume that their work is done, it turns out that Kion's sister Kiara is still in danger. Tiifu points out that the herd is charging right for Kiara, who is hiding behind a rock. She slips and wounds her paw, leaving everyone concerned. Bunga has an idea, and asks Fuli to get him close. Ono then scouts ahead, and, when close enough, Bunga leaps onto the rock protecting Kiara. He turns around, and lets loose a large fart, which causes the gazelles to part ways. Kiara thanks Bunga, and returns to her parents.
Janja, Cheezi and Chungu are out chasing Oryxes, until the Lion Guard arrive to scare them off. Kion tells his friends to calm the herd down, whilst he tackles the hyenas personally. After Bunga and Beshte calm them down, Fuli notices that Kion is taking a long time, and asks Ono to check out what's taking him so long.

He soon sees Kion in trouble, holding onto the log of the tree that snapped off with him, heading downstream. Ono quickly alerts the rest of the Lion Guard, and they run down to find Kion holding on for dear life. Bunga, desperate to save his friend, leaps in, but Beshte soon jumps in to take him back to land as the current proves to be too strong. Kion eventually manages to paddle to safety and onto land, just as his friends catch up on the other side. Kion confirms that he's okay. With no choice thanks to the fast current, Kion tells everyone to meet him at Flat Ridge Rock. Bunga tells everyone that he knows where that is, and leads Fuli and Beshte off. Kion tells Ono to go with them, just in case Bunga doesn't really know the way.

Bunga starts to lead the group through a forest, though Fuli doubts that he knows the way. After taking the team through a series of dead ends, and almost disturbing Ushari, Fuli's suspicions are confirmed when Bunga finally admits that they're lost.

Soon, Ono has led Bunga, Beshte and Fuli out of the forest, and near a herd of zebras. They soon realise that none of them know where to go, much to Fuli's chagrin. As the group talk amongst themselves, one of the zebras, Thurston, approaches them, and asks what the problem is. Bunga explains that they're looking for Flat Ridge Rock, and Thurston asks where it is specifically. They find out that Thurston does not actually know where Flat Ridge Rock, and Beshte suggests that maybe Mbeya knows where to find Flat Ridge Rock. He tells them that usually at this time of the day, Mbeya is hanging out at the Watering Hole, and Fuli asks Ono to guide them there, grabbing Bunga before he walks the other way.
Later, Beshte locates Mbeya, and the two are talking in the Watering Hole. Fuli questions what's taking so long, and Bunga mentions that Beshte loves to talk. Ono flies over to remind Beshte that Kion needs them, and the hippo says goodbye to Mbeya. Bunga and Fuli are eager the know what he said, but it turns out that Beshte forgot to ask, and returns, leaving them slightly irritated.

Bunga, Fuli, Beshte and Ono wade through a river, with Bunga snacking on the surrounding flies. As they reach the end, Ono notices the rock which appears to be Flat Ridge Rock. Fuli says that she'll lead, and dashes off, leaving Bunga and the others behind.
Fuli awaits her friends at Flat Ridge Rock, though the other members are exhausted, having had to run to catch up with her. Bunga then realises where they are, and that he himself has actually been there. He also knew a shortcut, which annoys his friends.

Fuli, Beshte, Bunga and Ono soon hear a commotion in the Outlands. The group make their way down to see Jasiri near Kion. Kion declares that she is a friend, and Bunga leans in and reminds Kion that she is a hyena. Kion explains that she helped him, and the Guard eases up. Bunga and the Lion Guard soon make their way back to Flat Ridge Rock. As Kion says farewell to Jasiri, Bunga and the Lion Guard return to the Pride Lands, with Kion racing to catch up with them.
Bunga and the Lion Guard are seen running through the Pride Lands in response to a cry for help. When they discover the animal in need to be a hyrax stuck in a thorn bush. Bunga tries to get him out, but Fuli reminds him that he would be dragging the hyrax through the bush and hurting him in the process. Bunga then suggests that Kion uses the Roar of the Elders to free the trapped animal, but Fuli shoots down this plan as well, alerting him to the question of what would happen to the hyrax if Kion used the Roar. Kion tells them that they can simply pull the thorns aside. Bunga complies, and Fuli darts through the bush and grabs

After the hyrax is freed, however, he is eaten by Ushari the cobra. Bunga protests and grabs Ushari, forcing him to spit out his meal. When Ushari tells Bunga that the hyrax was his lunch, Bunga says it was "to go" and flings Ushari away. The hyrax gratefully attempts to hug Bunga, but immediately flees, screeching, due to Bunga's repulsive odor. Despite this, Bunga takes it as a compliment. Beshte meanwhile is covered in flowers, which have caused him to become sticky, much to Ono's worry. As Beshte mentions that he needs a bath, Ono points out that Bunga could use one too. Beshte suggests a dip in Big Springs.

After Beshte shows the Lion Guard how the fish clean him, Bunga tries to get the fish to clean him off as well. However, the fish are just as disgusted by Bunga's scent as the hyrax. Bunga then watches as the crocodiles arrive, and the young crocodile Makuu challenges the elderly Pua for his leadership of the float by way of Mashindano. Pua accepts the challenge.
Don't Make A Stink
After the Guard leaves Big Springs, Ono attempts to talk with Bunga and fix his odor problem. Bunga's adoptive uncles, Timon and Pumbaa, protest, the the four of them sing Don't Make a Stink together. This results in a group of insects swarming over Bunga, much to Ono's disapproval. Ono tells Bunga that he'll find a solution eventually.
At the Mashindano, Bunga watches eagerly. He mistakenly exclaims that Pua gets one point after Pua hits Makuu with his tail, and Beshte corrects him, explaining that there are no points in Mashindano, and that the crocodiles have to keep fighting until one of them surrenders. As the fight continues, Bunga calls out the names of the moves that the crocodiles are using against each other.

True to his word, Ono is showing Bunga another way of cleaning himself when Kiara arrives in the Lair of the Lion Guard, worried. She explains that Zazu reported animals in the Pride Lands out of order. When Ono investigates, he discovers all of the Pride Landers in the wrong places, with the crocodiles being at the bottom of the chaos, having moved into Big Springs. When the Lion Guard goes to talk to Makuu, he refuses to lead his float away without a fight. Bunga and the rest of the Lion Guard are up to it, but Kion refuses. They return to Pride Rock to find it full of baboons. While Kion is speaking to Kiara, Ono declares that he has a solution to Bunga's odor problem. He tells Bunga to roll in mint leaves, as well as eat one, and Bunga is immediately cured of his stench.

After talking to his grandfather, Kion reveals that he has a solution to defeat Makuu. He plans to show Makuu the Roar of the Elders so Makuu knows what he would be up against if it came to a fight. Beshte tells him the Grove of Trees is vacant of animals, and Kion decides that he will direct his Roar there. But when the Lion Guard sweeps the grove to check for any animals, they discover the hyrax in a tree, peacefully eating. Bunga tries to drive the hyrax down with his smell, but due to the mint leaves, he no longer stinks. Eventually Bunga brings the hyrax down in tow, and he and Fuli clear out so that Kion can roar without anyone getting hurt.

Once everything has been sorted out, Ono apologizes to Bunga for trying to rid him of his stink, admitting that it has its uses. Bunga replies with "Hakuna Matata", saying simply that he knows it'll wear off soon. When the hyrax climbs upon his back, he laughs and adds that the sooner, the better. The rest of the Guard laughs with him.
The Lion Guard are out in a storm, trying to save some baboons in a tree that is gradually breaking. They don't wish to come down since they're dry in the tree, but Beshte is struggling to keep the tree from tumbling down the nearby cliff edge. then retreat back down, and Bunga drags the final baboon down to the ground, just as the tree falls over the cliff.
With the storm subsided, the Lion Guard decide to rest nearby. Kion leaves the group briefly to seek advice from his grandfather. When Kion returns to the guard, he sees a large stream of water heading straight for them. He wakes them up, and asks Ono to check out what's going on. He informs him that Lake Kaziwa is too full, causing a leak which is getting worse. Kion realises that they need to do something, and Bunga has the idea of blocking the water with rocks.

Other animals arrive and compliment Bunga on his good idea. Kion, however, is not so sure that the quick fix is a good idea. A small amount of water leaks out, and Bunga is quick to stick a stick in it. The animals once again are impressed, though Fuli has doubts. Rafiki overhears this nearby, and mentions that honey badgers are the smartest animals, before his baobab fruits fall from his hands. Bunga becomes excited, and runs off to tell his uncles, with the Lion Guard chasing after him, not staying around to hear the rest of the wise baboon's words.

The Lion Guard lose track of Bunga, though soon catch up to him at Hakuna Matata Falls. Timon and Pumbaa explain that Bunga is giving out advice, and Bunga joins them as they sing Bunga the Wise Some animals start asking for help, and Bunga proceeds to give them terrible advice. Timon and Pumbaa quickly tell everyone to get back in line, refusing anymore freebies. A mongoose gives Timon a bug, and he's ready to let him in, until the Lion Guard tell him that they need to speak with Bunga. Annoyed, Timon allows them access, although Beshte is too big to fit through and instead waits outside.
They speak with Bunga, who reminds them of Rafiki's words, and that he is now the smartest and bravest animal in the Pride Lands, and that he plans on giving all the animals advice. Timon then ushers the Lion Guard out, since other animals are waiting for Bunga's advice.

Later, the Lion Guard encounter a herd of animals singing Make Way for Bunga the Wise. They run over, to find out that Bunga is taking his advice all over the Pride Lands. Kion urges his best friend to stop, as his terrible advice is causing chaos in the Pride Lands. As they're talking, the temporary dam bursts and the animals run. Kion tells the Lion Guard to follow him, as he rushes to save some nearby animals. Although Timon and Pumbaa want Bunga to run, he remembers his responsibilities, and instead follows them. A baby elephant follows Bunga.

The Lion Guard race across the plains, and end up entering an area surrounded by rocks. As Ono sees one route leading outside where the water can follow, he tells them left, though soon realises that he has sent them to a dead end. The other animals look to Bunga for advice, but he confesses that Kion knows best. Kion tells everyone to get behind him, and performs the Roar of the Elders, which pushes the water back and out the other way, with rocks falling down to secure their safety.

The animals and the Lion Guard are finally able to relax, near a waterfall that was created when Kion used his roar. Bunga finds the perfect spot to relax, though Rafiki warns him not to. As Bunga reminds him of what he said, Rafiki finishes his phrase from earlier, though not before Bunga is mid-way of a leap into the flowers. He lands in a muddy pool hidden by the flowers, and realizes that maybe he is not the smartest. Relaxing, he remarks that he doesn't mind not being the smartest animal after all.
The Lion Guard sans Ono have heard the news - Kiara is now the queen. Bunga see's it as a positive event, although his best friend Kion is still a little annoyed, reminding his friends that the position is temporary. They watch as Ono then flies over to Pride Rock, much to their confusion. Once they arrive, Ono is cleaning himself in preparation for Kiara's appearance, explaining that he has been asked to give her the morning report. Tiifu and Zuri appear, announcing Kiara's presence. Bunga bows down, and whilst Tiifu and Zuri believe it is appropriate behavior, Kiara thinks otherwise. She approaches Ono, though Kion expresses his anger at taking him away from the Lion Guard. After hearing the morning report from Ono, Kiara becomes worried that the bees may sting the eland herd and send them into chaos. Kion is about to leave, when Kiara asks if the Lion Guard can divert the eland away from the bees nest. He reluctantly agrees, and Bunga bows once more to the queen.

The Lion Guard find the bees, and Ono confirms that the eland herd are on their way. Mzingo watches nearby, hearing Kion's issue with his sister. Since his sister couldn't tell him how to handle the situation, as opposed to moving the eland away from the bees as Kiara stated, he believes that the best solution is to move the bees. This plan backfires, and the bees chase after the Lion Guard, whilst Bunga eats some honey from a fallen beehive, blissfully unaware of the chaos surrounding him.

The Lion Guard return to Pride Rock covered in bee stings (with the exception of Bunga), and Kion insists that it wasn't a total disaster, though Kiara disbelieves him. Bunga snacks on a bee, whilst the rest of the Guard explain what happened to the queen. As they leave, Bunga once again bows to Kiara.

Kion later gathers the Lion Guard again, after his sister travels into the Outlands alone to meet with Janja. They venture there themselves, and Ono tracks down Kiara for them. Kion runs off ahead to defend Kiara against Janja, and although Janja is okay with the odds, Bunga and the rest of the Lion Guard join the two lion cubs, marking the numbers as equal. Janja makes a quick retreat, and his clan flees back into the depths of the Outlands, leaving the Lion Guard safe once again, and free to return home.
The Lion Guard are out in the middle of a wildebeest stampede, trying to locate Janja and the hyenas. Ono is scouting above, and soon locates Cheezi and Chungu about to prey on a young wildebeest. He calls for Bunga and Beshte to sort out the problem, to which they do. Kion meanwhile manages to defeat Janja, who takes his hyena companions back to the Outlands. Kion orders Ono to make certain that they leave the Pride Lands, whilst they watch from the ground. Bunga and the rest of the Guard then witness Ono's injury, and together they take him back to the Lair of the Lion Guard.

Rafiki is painting in The Lair of the Lion Guard, when the Guard arrive. After fixing him up, Bunga tries to find words of encouragement for his wounded friend, though he lacks the skills to do so in a good manner. As Fuli notices the paintings of the Lion Guards around the room, Bunga becomes particularly excited as he sees his own painting amongst the others. When Kion asks Ono what he thinks, Bunga points out that Ono can't see properly, which causes him to fly off. Bunga and the Guard chase after him outside. However, Ono crash lands, and Bunga follows the rest of the Lion Guard's words by making sure that Ono rests up.

Back in the Lair, Kion is posing dramatically for Rafiki, who is still painting. Still not happy with the outcome, Bunga suggests that Kion poses 'more like a lion', and attempts to move his body around for a more powerful pose. Rafiki becomes increasingly annoyed, and Bunga then suggests painting him instead, launching himself into a variety of dynamic poses until a coconut shell covers his head. Rafiki ushers everyone out and begins to meditate, stating that he needs some peace. His peace is disturbed almost immediately much to his disappointment, as Beshte comes charging in with news for the Lion Guard. He explains that his friend Kulu's cousin overheard a buffalo talking about something his sister saw earlier in the day at the canyon near Chakula Plains, which turns out to be Janja and the hyenas at the edge, overlooking the plains. With the zebra herd grazing nearby Kion then orders the Lion Guard out, sans Ono.
Trapped
The Guard finally arrive canyon, and, as they pass, the hyenas push the large stack of rocks in their path. The Guard are about to turn around and return to take the longer path, but Janja pushes a bigger rock nearby, which causes a minor landslide to block the other way. Beshte manages to hold up a steep rock, which the rest of the Guard hide under. Bunga shows much enthusiasm to do it all over again, though Kion disagrees.Janja, Cheezi and Chungu then taunt the Guard before they leave, to cause mayhem with the zebra. Bunga urges Kion to use the roar, though Kion refuses, pointing out that the rocks will likely hit the zebra. Bunga suggests the other rock, though Fuli reminds him that it's the long way, and by that time it will be too late. Ono then arrives, and Kion has an idea.

Bunga is soon seen peeking through the rocks, although it turns out that he can't actually see anything. Ono returns, and the Guard are ordered to stand behind Kion as he uses the Roar of the Elders to blast the rocks away, which land on the hyenas. The Guard are pleased to see the hyenas withdrawing back into the Outlands once again.
Meanwhile, back at the Lair Rafiki has finally finished his portrait. Bunga and the Lion Guard watch as the pictures re-assemble together to form a pyramid-like structure. Rafiki closes by saying that this Lion Guard is better off together.
Simba and the Lion Guard are relaxing in the Pride Lands on the day of Kupatana, watching a choir of animals rehearse the song Our Kupatana Community. Bunga is very eager for Kupatana, mentioning that it is the biggest party in the Pride Lands. Kion corrects his friend, reminding him that Kupatana isn't just a party, and Simba agrees, pointing out how it is the only day in which the animals of the Pride Lands gather in peace. Their conversation is interrupted by distressed yipping sounds from the distance, and Ono flies up to see what the problem is. He reports a jackal pup being chased by Janja's clan, and Simba encourages Kion to save the pup. Kion decides to do so, and Bunga calls out his catchphrase as the Lion Guard races to the rescue.
Bunga and Dogo
By the time the Guard arrives in the Outlands, Janja's clan has cornered the pup. Just as Janja lunges for him, Kion intervenes, ordering Janja to leave the pup alone. Bunga reminds Janja that it's the day of Kupatana, which appears to please Janja. Janja then tells the Lion Guard that they're welcome to the pup, and he and his clan retreat further into the Outlands. The pup introduces himself as Dogo and thanks the Lion Guard enthusiastically, jumping up and placing his front paws on Bunga briefly as he darts around in circles. He recalls that the Lion Guard just "looked at the hyenas, and they ran away", and Bunga proudly tells him that the Guard has that effect on "no-goods". Dogo asks if he can return to the Pride Lands with the Guard, and Kion permits it.
"You picked a great day to get chased by hyenas, Dogo!"
After the Lion Guard returns to the Pride Lands, Bunga and Beshte tell Dogo about Kupatana. Fuli protests, but Kion says that it might be good for Dogo to learn about Kupatana, which pleases Bunga and Beshte. The Guard takes Dogo to a hillside and tells him that he may stay there. Bunga mentions that the hillside is a perfect spot, and Beshte agrees. The Guard split up to continue patrol. Bunga and Beshte head to the Watering Hole, where they discover Dogo sleeping in front of the den of Muhanga the aardvark.
"You can't stay here!"
Bunga is reluctant to wake him, commenting on how cute Dogo is, but Beshte points out that the den is occupied, and that Dogo can't rest there. He wakes Dogo and reminds him of his place on the hillside, and Dogo trots away. Bunga and Beshte then encounter another jackal pup in front of a second aardvark den. They mistake him for Dogo and order him away once more. Bunga comments "Weird . . ." as they continue on patrol, and immediately encounter another pup sleeping in front of an aardvark den. Bunga firmly tells the pup that he cannot stay in an aardvark den, but suddenly, many more jackal pups emerge from the dens. Just then, a pair of aardvarks arrive. Beshte assures them that he and Bunga will take care of the situation, and Bunga agrees, then uncertainly asks how. Not knowing what to do, the two yell for Kion.
Sorting out the problem
When Kion arrives, he finds Bunga and Beshte standing between the aardvarks and the jackal pups. He attempts to locate Dogo, but is instead greeted by Dogo's mother, Reirei, with Dogo's father Goigoi at her side. As Kion tries to sort out the situation, the Guard hears a call for help. Ono reports that Mbeya the rhino is stuck in the mud at Lake Matope, and the Guard goes to save him, Kion quickly ordering Reirei to stay away from the aardvarks' dens and food before he leaves.
Bunga grabs Dogo
After the Guard saves Mbeya, they discover that the jackals have caused even more trouble. Kion sorts things out with Reirei, even permitting her to come to the Kupatana Celebration, and the Guard goes to clean the mud off of themselves. Soon, the time of Kupatana arrives. Bunga and the Guard watch the animal choir perform, and Bunga quietly asks Ono if Dogo and his family have arrived yet. Ono replies that he can't see them, but just as the celebration begins, the jackal family attacks, causing chaos. The Pride Landers stand together per Kion and Simba's advice as the Lion Guard rounds up the jackals. Bunga grabs Dogo by the tail, declaring that he no longer finds Dogo cute.
A feast!
The jackals are soon driven away, and Kion apologizes to his father for letting the jackals in. Simba forgives his son for his mistake, but Kion then says that he supposes the celebration is over. Bunga protests, and begins to eat the fallen baobab flowers, declaring that it is the best Kupatana ever.
The Lion Guard are rounding up some buffaloes to dry ground. One buffalo becomes stuck in the mud, and Kion calls for Beshte and Bunga to sort it out. They do so, though the force of Beshte's push causes Bunga to fall far back and land in a bush. He leaps out after being bitten by something, and when the Lion Guard regroup, they discover it to be Ushari. Ono is fearful, warning them not to get bitten. Bunga reveals his bite, and Beshte questions why the cobra bit Bunga, to which Ushari replies that it was because he landed on his head. Ono explains that the cobra's bite is venomous, and Bunga acts dramatic. Ono believes that the poison has hit his system, and that they'll have to suck it out. When Bunga offers them his behind, they decide to try Rafiki instead.
Goodbye!...
They meet him at the Tree of Life, where Timon and Pumbaa have already been informed of the bad news by Ono. They are heartbroken, as Bunga continues to act dramatically as he believes that he is dying. Timon and Pumbaa can't see what Rafiki can do, and when he arrives, Rafiki tells them just what he's going to do: nothing. They are shocked to hear this, though Bunga is certain that his end is near, collapsing and grabbing a flower to rest on his stomach. As Timon and Pumbaa start crying, Rafiki reveals that Bunga is actually immune. He questions the meaning, and Ono explains. The Guard are a little annoyed, particularly Fuli, who honestly believed that he was dying. Timon and Pumbaa are overjoyed that he is safe, and invite everyone back to Hakuna Matata Falls for a feast. Timon refuses to let Fuli eat alone, claiming that friends never leave other friends to eat alone. She hesitates, though joins them regardless.
Immune Bunga?
At Hakuna Matata Falls, Timon and Pumbaa are snuggling up to Fuli. They invite Bunga over, who is messing around with a crocodile by standing in his mouth after he opens it himself. Fuli dashes across and saves Bunga, who doesn't care because he is 'immune'. Annoyed at his antics, Fuli leaves. Bunga is offered some bugs, though since they're not poisonous, he turns them down, leaving Timon and Pumbaa to finish the bugs themselves.
Go play in a volcano? Great idea!
Later in the day, Bunga is bouncing a porcupine on his head whilst Kion watches. Bunga still believes he is immune to everything, though soon drops the porcupine by mistake. Kion notices Fuli hunting a gazelle, and interrupts her. He invites her to his family's hunt, and Fuli is genuinely excited. They invite Bunga, though he wishes to find something else to do. They leave, and although Bunga is about to bounce the porcupine on his head for the hundredth time, the porcupine tells him to 'go play in a volcano'. Bunga takes this literally, and ignores the porcupine's call for him to return.
Wow, she really is soft!
Soon, Bunga arrives at the Outlands, still believing to be immune to everything. Cheezi notices him and soon calls for Janja (who is receiving a back scratch from Chungu). They run back to see Bunga laying in a geyser, one which even Chungu comments as being too hot for him to go near. Although confused, Janja doesn't care, since Bunga is warming up for them in his opinion. When Bunga gets out, Janja blocks him from walking further, though Bunga has no fear. He informs the hyenas that he is immune rather loudly, and Fuli soon hears Bunga's voice in the Outlands. She immediately realises that something is wrong and dashes over. Luckily for Bunga, the hyenas are too busy questioning what immune means, and before Janja can eat him, Fuli arrives to save him. Bunga, however, is agitated, since things were just about to get fun. The rock they're on breaks, and falls into the lava, floating downstream. Bunga grabs onto Fuli, and finally agrees with his uncles on her softness.
Fuli to the rescue!
Meanwhile, the Lion Guard are searching for Fuli. Ono sees her and Bunga floating down the lava, and tells them to hurry. The rock they're on starts to break away, and a hot rock lands on Bunga's tail which causes him pain. Fuli knocks it off, but Bunga realises that he isn't actually immune to everything. As the rock breaks further, he hops onto Fuli for support. As they take a short dip down a steep path, the hyenas are waiting for them on either side. Kion, Ono and Beshte arrive just in time, and, after Bunga admits that he's not immune, Beshte knocks over a dead tree for them to land on. Fuli and Bunga land on the tree, but Janja and the hyenas leap onto the tree themselves, trying to catch up to them. Fuli isn't worried, and speeds off the other end with Bunga, leaving the hyenas trapped on the fiery tree.

Group hug
Back in the Pride Lands, Bunga is still snuggling Fuli, who promptly stops so that her baggage can fall off. They decide to cool off at the Watering Hole, but Kion remembers that Fuli likes to be alone and that it's okay if she'd rather not. Fuli explains that whilst she likes to be alone while hunting, she does in fact enjoy hanging out with them, and that she considers them her family. She allows them to cuddle with her and the group share a hearty hug together.
Meanwhile, the Lion Guard After Ono scouts out a buffalo herd and reports them safe, Beshte wonders aloud what made them move from their original grazing grounds. Bunga dismisses this and begins to leave, but Ono stops him and realizes that the buffalo are standing on a geyser, to Bunga's confusion. The ground rumbles, and though Bunga at first mistakes this noise for Beshte's stomach rumbling, Ono realizes that the geyser is about to blow. The Guard begins to round up the buffalo, but Fuli dashes ahead of them and accomplishes this on her own, impressing Bunga and the Guard. They are soon alerted to another cry for help, this time by several galagos who are dangling from a tree branch. Fuli dashes off and saves them on her own, and Bunga gets them off of her back for her.
Ready to go looking for the Utamu grubs
Meanwhile, the Lion Guard As the Guard walks back home, Fuli says that she still feels as though the galagos are on her back, and asks Bunga if he's sure that he got them all. Bunga assures her that he did and changes the subject, noticing that the water has reached the trees near Mapema Rock. He explains to the others that this means it's the peak of the rainy season, meaning that the Utamu grubs will be coming out. He begins to inform the others of their tastiness, but is interrupted by another cry for help. Ono reports a serval had attempted to leap across Big Ravine, and Fuli dashes off to save him. Bunga and the others go around the ravine to discover that Fuli had managed to successfully save the serval. Kion insists that Fuli rests for a while, and Bunga decides to go find the Utamu grubs.
Baby Bunga wants to help
As he begins his search, Bunga begins singing. He stops suddenly, causing Beshte to bump into him, and explains that they need to follow the dung. Noticing their confusion, Ono explains that they're dung beetle larvae, and that the dung beetles will lead them to their home. They are surprised that Bunga knew that, but soon get right on track. As they slowly follow the dung beetles, Bunga is asked what is so special about the grubs. Bunga explains that the Utamu were the reason he met Timon and Pumbaa, and goes into further detail about his backstory. He enters a flashback as he describes finding Timon and Pumbaa when he was younger and climbing up a dead tree to fetch the Utamu for them. Shifting back to present, Bunga explains that it's now a tradition for him to reach the Utamu grubs, and that he doesn't want to let his uncles down. The Guard realizes that the dung beetles are now gone, but Bunga sees the tree he was looking for up ahead, and dashes off to reach it.
Feeling brave
Having found the tree with the grubs, Bunga begins to scale it, though Kion is concerned that the dead tree won't hold him. After a branch breaks off, the team breathe a sigh of relief as Bunga has already made it to the next branch. However, the tree starts to bend as Bunga approaches the branch containing the grubs. Kion orders Beshte and Ono to help keep the tree stable. However, Ono then sees the circling vultures in the distance, and informs Kion, who calls the trio back. Bunga takes another step, positive he can reach the grubs. However, the branch snaps and Ono pushes him off before he falls into the narrow ravine below. Beshte catches him, but Bunga is upset. Kion apologises, but points out that they need to see what the vultures are up to. They leave to see what the vultures are up to, and discover that the vultures are attacking Fuli. They battle the vultures together, with Bunga curling into a ball and rolling forcefully into a vulture to defeat him. Kion uses the Roar to drive the vultures away, and Fuli thanks the Guard, but notices that Bunga looks disappointed. Bunga explains that he is upset because he wasn't able to get the Utamu, but Beshte and Fuli reassure them. Together, the Guard heads over to Hakuna Matata Falls.
Eating the Utamu at last!
Bunga returns to his uncles empty handed. Timon and Pumbaa explain to him that the only real reason they have Utamu grubs is to celebrate the day they met him. The three of them share a hug, and Timon then reveals that they managed to get the grubs this year themselves anyway - because a branch containing them had fallen on top of them. Timon, Pumbaa and Bunga celebrate by eating their Utamu.
Bunga and the Guard hear several cries about a hyena attack, and soon arrive on the scene. They surround an area of shaking grass, and Kion orders the hyenas to show themselves. Kambuni and Gumba reveal themselves, begging not to be hurt. They explain that they were only playing Lion Guard, and that it was Mtoto's idea. After the Pride Landers are informed that it was a false alarm, Kion questions the young animals about their game. They explain that they take turns being a member of the Lion Guard, and Bunga eagerly asks who plays as him. He is disheartened to discover that it is simply whoever is last. Kion explains to them that Janja and his hyenas are currently somewhere in the Pride Lands, and the Guard soon heads off for some training.
The water isn't as deep as Bunga thought
The first stage of training is an obstacle course. Beshte arrives slightly later than the others and admits that he brought Mtoto along. Kion announces that the first obstacle is a boulder jump. Bunga easily completes this obstacle, but on the second obstacle, a pool of shallow water, he overestimates its depth and attempts to dive in. He hits the ground hard and notes that the water was deeper than he thought it would be.
Kion then decides to try stealth training, and Bunga is excited by this, and recalls that this course of training is how they practice sneaking up on and surrounding bad guys. He tells Mtoto that he always aces this one, and notes that Kion will never see him coming before starting. However, he ends up jumping on Kion, saying that he became tired of being stealthy. Beshte rushes to the others in a panic, explaining that he can't find Mtoto. Mtoto announces his presence from atop a tall rock, but trips and falls. Beshte moves under him, and Mtoto bounces off, landing on Bunga. Kion decides that it time for Mtoto to head home, and Beshte decides to walk with him.
The next course of training is a race. Bunga is up against Fuli, and he gleefully runs forward. When he reaches the end, he at first believes that he beat Fuli, but Ono tells him that he did not. Kion asks Ono to look for hyenas, and to keep an eye out for Beshte while he's at it, seeing as Beshte has not yet returned. When Ono rejoins them, he explains that he did not see Beshte, and the Guard goes to search for their friend. Mtoto's friends tell them that Beshte went to save Mtoto from the hyenas. Ono flies up to locate them, and discovers that they are being confronted by both crocodiles and hyenas.
Bunga and the Guard go to rescue their friend, and Bunga knocks Janja into the water. Beshte and Mtoto are able to escape, and the crocodiles give chase the Janja, Cheezi, and Chungu. Fuli points out that they'd stand a better chance if they got out of the water, and Bunga says that he won't be telling them that and laughs with the others.
The Lion Guard is alerted by a hare, a rodent, and Muhangus that Makuu, Goigoi, and Janja are causing trouble in the Pride Lands. Kion sends Bunga and Beshte to go and find Makuu. Bunga leaps out of the grass, announcing to Makuu that he and Beshte and coming to get him, but discovers that Makuu is nowhere to be found. Bunga suggests that perhaps Makuu heard them and left, and the rodent that Makuu was said to disturb finds that her lunch was stolen in her absence.
Wait, where's Makuu?
Bunga and Beshte return to Kion, reporting that they did not locate Makuu. The others had not found who they were searching for either, and Bunga suggests that the three villains heard them coming and ran off. Kion doubts this, explaining that he could not even find hyena tracks, and Bunga says that he doesn't think he and Beshte spotted any crocodile tracks either. As the Guard and the three Pride Landers discuss the issue, they hear the sound of hyena laughter, and the Guard and goes to see what's going on. They meet a drongo along the way, who introduces himself as Tamaa and points in the direction in which the hyenas went. As the Guard rushes away in the direction that Tamaa pointed, Ono suddenly flies in front of them, stopping them, and circles back.
Bunga enjoys the show!
The rest of the Guard follows, and they return to Tamaa, who they see and hear mimicking the sound of Janja's voice to scare off a hyrax. Bunga is impressed by Tamaa's accuracy, but the rest of the Guard are displeased. Tamaa sings the song Bird of a Thousand Voices to further explain his talent, and Bunga is once again impressed by Tamaa's talent. He requests and imitation of his own voice, and when Kion says his name disapprovingly, Bunga modifies his request, telling Tamaa to imitate Kion first, then himself, but Fuli orders him to focus. Suddenly, the Guard hears the sound of hyena laughter once again, and Ono reports that he can see Janja and his crew attacking a herd of impalas. The Guard goes to sort things out, but Bunga comments to Tamaa that he wishes he could have imitated him, as Bunga will now never know what his own voice sounds like.
Saving the day.
Kion is quick to order the hyenas out of the Pride Lands, but the Guard is later approached by Thurston, who claims that they need to go to the Outlands, as they are the only safe place to be. Bunga protests, and Kion talks to Thurston, who reports that he heard Kion's voice telling the impalas to go to the Outlands. The Lion Guard heads for the Outlands, and along the way, they hear Bunga's voice being shouted from the direction in which they are headed. Bunga is puzzled by this, and Kion declares that it is Tamaa's doing. Bunga pauses and comments that he sounded heroic before running to catch up with the others. They arrive in the Outlands, where they discover Janja, Cheezi, and Chungu confronting Tamaa, and Kion sees to it that the hyenas leave.
"I really do have a great voice."
Bunga and the Guard return to the Pride Lands, where Tamaa promises to no longer imitate others unless it's for good. Bunga once again requests an imitation of himself, and Tamaa complies, shouting out Bunga's catchphrase as he flies away. Bunga comments that he really does "have a great voice", then realizes the Guard has already left the scene and runs after them to catch up.
The Lion Guard find a distressed gazelle. To help the gazelle, Kion asks Beshte to move the rock whilst Bunga pulls the hoof out. They do so, but the force sends Bunga and the gazelle rolling down a steep slope. Before they fall off the edge, Kion and Bunga rescue the gazelle, and Bunga believes that the whole thing was pretty fun. The gazelle gesticulates his disagreement.
Borrowing the staff
As the storm erupts, the Lion Guard return to The Lair of the Lion Guard to escape the tempest. As Bunga messes around by swinging on vines, he notices Rafiki painting in the lair. He marvels as Rafiki uses his staff to make the paintings come to life and, when Rafiki leaves, uses the staff for his own amusement. He watches a painting of some zebras run towards a rock formation, narrowly missing the top rock as they run towards it. As he's doing so, Ono reports that there's a zebra stampede, and Bunga leaves the staff behind as he races to catch up with the Guard as they leave.
Trying to guide the herd
At the scene, the Guard take immediate action to stop the zebras from running over a family of hyraxes. Bunga notices that a set of rocks in the distances bears a striking resemblance to the ones he saw in Rafiki's painting. He becomes concerned and voices that concern to Beshte, who helps him leap onto Thurston's head as the honey badger attempts to halt the zebra herd. Sure enough, the rock falls down and almost lands directly on top of the zebras. After the herd had calmed, Beshte asks Bunga how he knew that would happen. Bunga offers to show him back in the lair, leaving Kion to question what caused the distress.
Showing Beshte
Back in the lair, Rafiki has run out of mango paint and leaves his staff behind. Bunga quickly borrows the staff again to show Beshte how he knew about the falling rock. Beshte is amazed, and soon notices another painting which looks suspiciously like Kion, hanging on a tree branch. Bunga starts the animation, but stops it as Kion begins to fall, fearful of what happens next. They decide to make sure that the event never takes place, and rush off, with Bunga spilling some paint as they pass Rafiki along the way.
Trying to save Kion
Although Bunga pleads with Kion to believe him, Kion does not. As Ono reports a hyena problem, Kion informs Bunga that there's no time for it, and they leave. After their arrival, Bunga is told to take care of Cheezi and Chungu, though he witnesses Kion leaping onto a tree branch nearby. Worried, Bunga leaps onto him, causing them both to fall on Janja as he passes below. The hyenas retreat, and Kion questions what Bunga was doing. Before he gets an answer, the honey badger dashes over to Beshte and the pair discuss the event. Since Bunga was the one who pushed him, the pair begin to wonder if it wasn't the right tree. Although glad that there are no trees back in the lair, Ono flies down to report that three zebra are missing, and that he has located them on the other side of Maji Baridi Falls. The Guard set off.
Upsetting Ushari
Bunga is terrified to see so many trees around them. He mistakes Ushari for a tree branch, and accidentally upsets him as he attempts to save Kion from tripping over him. Fuli becomes suspicious of their actions, and Bunga explains everything to her along the way. Noticing that Kion is near another tree branch, Fuli rushes in to save him, as Bunga and Beshte rush to catch up. They trip over a tree branch embedded in the ground and Kion becomes angry, though Ono announces that he has found the zebras and also knows a shortcut. Bunga makes an announcement of his own, that he knows as shorter shortcut than Ono's.
Worried for Kion
Whilst swimming across a lake, Ono questions their behavior, as their shortcut is not actually a shortcut. After Ono is filled in, the Guard see Kion at another tree branch, and they make another attempt to 'rescue' him. This also fails, and Kion is once again angry at everyone. Although Bunga pleads with Kion to understand, the lion cub once again refuses the theory that Rafiki's paintings predict the future. After the zebras fall into the water, Kion sees a nearby branch and plans to use his Roar of the Elders to push the water back, much to his friends dismay. On his way back, Kion gives Bunga and the Guard a scare as he almost falls off, though he safely lands on the rocks nearby.
A suitable punishment
They return to The Lair of the Lion Guard, where Rafiki explains that Bunga had been watching the zebra clip backwards. Bunga questions the painting of Kion, though Rafiki further explains that the painting is not of Kion, but of Nala's Father when he was a cub. He shows the Guard the full animation, which involves Nala's Father falling off the branch but being saved by the Lion Guard of his time. Rafiki does show a painting of Bunga which does predict the future, however. Bunga's enthusiasm is destroyed when it is revealed that he will be cleaning the mess he made. Rafiki hands Bunga some leaves to clean up with, and as he does his duty, Bunga comments that he preferred the other paintings. Rafiki and the Guard share a laugh as the honey badger continues to clean.
Ono calls to the Lion Guard, as a fight has broken out between a herd of gazelles and a herd of zebras. Bunga questions his eyesight, holding up two fingers and asking him to count. Ono dismisses his concerns, and leads the Guard down to the fight. Beshte recognises both herds, with the leader of the gazelles being Swala and the leader of the zebras being Muhimu. They slide down a slope as they attempt to stop the fight. Unfortunately, Bunga gets sat on by Muhimu as she fights, much to his annoyance. Nobody notices this though, as both herds continue to quarrel until Kion unleashes a roar, which grabs their attention. Both he and Beshte try to explain that the Pride Lands are for everyone, but Swala and Muhimu explain that the reason they're fighting is because there is only one patch of grass left for them to share between their herds.
Speaking with Muhimu
After Kion has spoken with his father, Bunga races back to the small patch of grass, announcing to the herds that the Lion Guard will be taking them across the Pride Lands to a new grazing ground, Mbali Fields. As he's racing around, he bumps into Muhimu who denies ever sitting on him during the fight, calling him a mongoose instead of a honey badger. She explains that she needs to reach the new grazing grounds as soon as possible, which slightly irks Bunga.
Trail to Hope
Meanwhile, Ono has found a route to Mbali Fields, and reports to Kion accordingly. After Ono has explained his news, Kion announces to the two herds that he and the Guard will be leading them to Mbali Fields. Both herds are satisfied, and, along with Bunga, cheer for Kion. As the Guard keep everyone in check, the Trail to Hope begins, with everyone looking out for each other as they move across the Pride Lands.
Saving Muhimu
Eventually, they wind up in a canyon. The herds soon see Mbali Fields before them, and Muhimu cannot wait any longer. She and her herd rushes ahead down the canyon, which causes Swala and her herd to react competitively as they charge after them. The Lion Guard attempt to stop them, but a large pile of rocks plummets into the canyon, blocking the path to Mbali Fields. The rocks keep falling and almost hit Muhimu. Bunga leaps onto her just in time to rescue her from being hit by more rocks, and she is surprised that Bunga managed to rescue her, though still refers to him as the wrong species (a hedgehog). In the meantime, Kion realizes that their path is no longer going to work, and thus asks Ono to scout out a new pathway for them to continue their journey with. Ono returns with some disappointing news - that the only way to Mbali Fields is now going to involve a trip through the Outlands.
Saving Muhimu (again!)
As they make their way across, a storm erupts. Suddenly, a huge gush of water comes flooding through the canyon. Kion realises that it's a flash flood, and orders everyone to reach higher ground. As the Guard each start to save the straying animals, Bunga has saves a gazelle, but notices that Muhimu is floating away with the current. He leaps in and grabs her, though Muhimu has her doubts that he can save her, becoming a little aggressive as Bunga asks her to help him save her. Eventually, she starts paddling with Bunga, and he is able to help her reach safe grounds. She is grateful for his help, and notes that it's the second time he has saved her during the same day. She thanks him for his help, and finally admits that she did, in fact sit on him (to which Bunga replies that he knew that already).
Agreeing to keep Muhimu safe
After the flood, Bunga shows concern for Kion who is depressed at the animal's lack of faith in his leadership. Bunga waits for him to return after a brief trip, cheering him on as he regains his confidence. Muhimu asks Bunga if he'll keep her safe during the rest of the journey, to which he agrees that he will do so.
You're having a baby?!
The herds enter the Outlands, but soon after, Muhimu enters labor. Kion sends Beshte, Fuli and Ono ahead and tells them to keep leading the herds whilst he and Bunga stay behind to help her give birth. Some of the zebras stay behind, as does Swala, to help them. Soon Muhimu gives birth to a son. However, he lets loose a loud bray, which draws Janja, Cheezi and Chungu's attention. Bunga tries to tell the newborn to be quiet, even though he understands that he probably won't be able to understand him. However, the three hyenas soon arrive and slide down the ridge, causing most of the zebras to scatter. Kion pleads with everyone to protect Muhimu and her newborn, knowing that mayhem is exactly what the hyenas want from them.
Confusing Cheezi
After Muhimu orders them to, the zebras compose themselves, rushing back to Muhimu and her foal, defending them along with Kion, Bunga and Swala. At first Janja, Cheezi and Chungu taunt them, though they soon launch an attack. Bunga catches Cheezi, and pulls on his tail which confuses him greatly. Eventually, Bunga throws Cheezi into the other hyenas, just as Kion is finished with Chungu and Muhimu's Son has kicked back Janja. Muhimu is amazed that her son saved her life, and Bunga compliments him.
Off to play with Muhimu's boy
The remaining animals finally make it to Mbali Fields, with everyone happy at last as Ono reports that the migration was a success. Bunga is especially happy, and runs off to play with Muhimu's boy as the Guard laugh in joy.
Bunga and the Lion Guard are assisting some Sable Antelopes that had managed to get stuck in the mud, when a tremendous rumble alerts them to a new problem. Ono flies ahead, seeing a new sinkhole as well as Nala and Kiara beside it. Fuli insists that Kion go ahead whilst they clean up. Bunga soon becomes impatient with the antelopes, though is quick to leave the scene after Beshte lifts it out of the mud, anxious to catch up to Kion. When they finally reach him, without thinking, Bunga leaps over the sinkhole and plummets down, landing softly on Simba's mane.
Slipping down
Simba is unimpressed to see Bunga (as well as having his mane tangled by the honey badger's fall), and despite Bunga's enthusiasm, points out that he cannot in fact rescue him from down there. Kion calls down asking if they're okay, to which Simba replies positively. After the sinkhole becomes larger, everyone back on ground start to organize a plan on how they can rescue Simba and Bunga. Meanwhile, Bunga makes a few suggestions on how to escape the sinkhole. He eventually decides to get a running start and leap back up the walls. This in turn causes more of the walls to collapse, and he and Simba become buried in more rocks. As everyone at the top start to worry, Ono swoops down to check on them. Lion and honey badger turn out to be fine, though Simba chides Bunga for acting without thinking.
Finding the opening
Simba insists that Nala and Kiara go ahead to the elephant concert, and as they leave, the Guard return with a giant log, tipping it into the sinkhole. Unfortunately for them, it hits the bottom and breaks into hundreds of tiny splinters.Bunga manages to find some bugs that were trapped within, and promptly snacks on them. He then notices a tunnel in the side of the sinkhole. Simba knows that it could possibly be the Nandembo Caverns, thus providing a way out. He calls to Kion, letting him know of this. Kion calls back that he will meet them at the entrance to the caverns, hopefully meeting up there instead. Kion and his friends leave the sinkhole area, as do Simba and Bunga as they enter the tunnels together.
As Simba and Bunga traverse through the dark tunnel, Simba soon starts to become frustrated at Bunga's random route choices, since no consideration is being taken on which ones he chooses. Simba's annoyance with the honey badger soon causes an argument to erupt between the pair, with Simba roaring to get his point across. This ultimately causes a cave in, and their disputation escalates so much that they wander off in different directions. Soon after, Bunga slowly starts to cool down, hoping that Simba would return for him.
Making up
When he mistakes some rocks for being Simba, he states 'no worries', which reminds him of his uncle's favorite song, which he begins to sing. As he is singing Hakuna Matata, Simba starts to hear his echoes and sings along with him. The two soon find each other in a clearing, and Bunga is surprised that he knows it. Simba explains that he was raised by Timon and Pumbaa before he was, and that they used to sing it to him all the time when he was growing up. Bunga then realizes that it sort of meant that they were like brothers, to which Simba agrees with. As the two laugh softly, Simba laments on how Timon and Pumbaa could not be there to see them finally getting along.
Newfound brothers
Meanwhile, Kion and the Guard have entered the tunnels, even managing to get Timon and Pumbaa involved. The pair cry over their lost cubs, though Bunga and Simba soon hear their echoing cries. They race across the caverns, following the voices until they find the source. A large chasm separates them, however. Simba, with Bunga on his back, copies Bunga's earlier idea, by running and leaping across whilst the pair yell Zuka Zama together. Kion is shocked to see that his father is finally getting along with Bunga, and the Guard are equally shocked to see Bunga riding atop the king. Timon and Pumbaa are relieved to see their kids back safe and sound, with Timon kissing Bunga repeatedly.
Hakuna Matata!
Back at Mizimu Grove, the elephants finish their concert, with Kiara and Nala applauding their hard work. Just then, Simba arrives with Bunga, Timon, Pumbaa and the Lion Guard in tow, apologizing himself for his late arrival. Bunga causes confusion when he regards himself as 'brother to the king', and further confuses Kiara by telling her to call him 'uncle Bunga'. Nala questions what happened, though Simba brushes it off as being 'quite an adventure'. He thanks the herd for their patience, though since he missed it, he decides to sing a song dear to his family. Together, the royal family and the Lion Guard sing Hakuna Matata to Ma Tembo's herd, which delights them.
Fuli and Kion join Bunga join Bunga and Ono after Fuli was spotted during a game of hide-and-seek. It is revealed that Kion found Bunga first, after he laughed at the lion as he passed by. After being questioned about Beshte's whereabouts, Kion calls over to him. The hippo removes his head from behind the rock, and joins the group. Fuli is reminded that it is her turn to seek, and Bunga declares himself as the world's fastest hider, leaping into a nearby bush despite Fuli not even having the chance to close her eyes.
Everyone finds Bunga first
Later, Fuli manages to sniff out Bunga in a log, startling him with a low growl. He questions why everyone finds him first, and Fuli mentions his smell having a large part in that. Bunga agrees, and joins Fuli as she notices Kion's tracks on the ground. After pursuing the tracks for a short while, Fuli halts, noticing another set of larger tracks next to Kion's. She stops the game, calling for Ono, Beshte and Kion to check them out. After a short deduction, it is agreed that they are leopard tracks. Once Ono locates the leopard, The Guard rush to the scene, and Kion orders the new face to leave the Pride Lands. He introduces himself as Makucha, and taunts the Guard, telling them that they will have to catch him first. Not even Fuli is able to catch up to him as he leaps across Big Ravine, leaving the Guard to watch the leopard escape on the other side. They voice their concerns to each other, since many of the Pride Landers are unaware that leopards are hunters. Kion suggests splitting up, when he realizes that Beshte is still absent from the group. With Bunga in the lead, they go searching for the final member of the Guard.
Bunga reassures Beshte
Bunga soon finds Beshte on a cliff. After calling down Ono, Beshte attempts to introduce them to his new friend who, unbeknownst to him, has been frightened off by Bunga's presence. Ono tells Beshte that he only saw him, and Beshte begins to describe Ajabu to them. However, neither Bunga nor Ono believe him, with Bunga urging him to return to the Guard. Disappointed, Beshte returns and apologizes for his absence. Kion explains the situation, and Beshte becomes concerned, having told Ajabu that he was safe from leopards in the Pride Lands.
"Beshte has an imaginary friend."
Bunga assures him that Makucha will only be interested in 'real' animals, prompting Beshte to snap at Bunga, claiming him to be real. After Bunga asks where he is, Beshte decides to do a quick sweep to see if Ajabu is hiding nearby. Kion questions the hippo, and the honey badger informs Kion that he has an imaginary friend. Beshte refutes the statement, and Kion eventually reminds everyone of the situation at hand. Beshte agrees, and the Guard take off.
Bunga apologizes
The Guard follow the tracks, though become lost as they enter the tall grass. Beshte claims to see him, and the Guard follow him. The hippo charges through a flamboyance of flamingos, which end up colliding with the rest of the Guard in their scattered movements. When Beshte finally arrives at the clearing, he is disheartened to find out that he is not there. When the Guard catches up, Beshte mentions that he actually thought he saw Ajabu. Bunga and Ono remind him that they haven't seen him yet, and when Beshte questions them, Bunga admits that he finds his friend to be 'unBungalievable'. Demoralised, Beshte leaves the group. Kion is slightly annoyed at Bunga, and asks why he and Ono don't believe him. Bunga and Ono establish their reasons, and Fuli decides to see if Kion believes Beshte, to which Kion responds with 'I do'. He points out that Beshte does not lie, and explicates his own reasons for believing him. Bunga admits that he never meant to hurt his feelings, and Ono decides that they should apologise, which Kion agrees with. Bunga and Ono approach the solitary hippo, and apologise. Beshte accepts their apology, and confirms that they were always friends when Bunga asks if they're friends again. Kion and Fuli arrive, reminding them of their mission. The Guard take off, desperate to find Makucha before he finds Ajabu.
"Well, I'll be a baboon's brother."
The Lion Guard soon hear a cry about a leopard, and rush to investigate. They don't see the leopard, but Ajabu soon runs past and Bunga and Ono finally see the okapi. They are shocked to find out that he is, in fact, real. Although Beshte gripes slightly at their constant disbelief, he soon becomes glad that they finally witnessed the okapi for themselves. Kion notices that the leopard has also seen him, and watches Makucha rush past them. He leads the Guard away.
Stopping Makucha
As Makucha attempts to pounce on the Guard, Bunga grasps his tail, preventing him from leaping away. He dangles the honey badger, hoping that he tastes better than he smells. The leopard eventually declares defeat as the entire Guard stands before him, and slinks away. Kion tells Bunga to let go of his tail, and Bunga orders Makucha not to come back. With the danger finally gone, Beshte introduces Ajabu to his friends. Ajabu expresses his gratitude, and is amazed in particular that honey badgers actually exist, as he never believed that something that looks and smells like Bunga could possibly be real. Bunga and Ajabu have a brief conversation, and then Beshte asks if he is planning on returning home, reminding him that Makucha will be waiting for him. Ajabu is uncertain what else he can do, and Kion has an idea.
Bunga decides to play hide-and-seek
At Pride Rock, Kion explains to his mother and father that Ajabu would like to stay in the Pride Lands. The King and Queen gladly offer their blessing, and Ajabu is welcomed as a new Pride Lander. As they leave Pride Rock together, Beshte asks what he's going to do next. Bunga suggests Hide and Seek. Ajabu agrees, and before they know it, he's hidden. Bunga compliments Ajabu on how good he is at the game, and Beshte laughs softly.
Bunga and the Lion Guard are called over by Muhanga and Muhangus, who report that their den have been invaded by hyenas. Bunga is exasperated, as the Guard has chased out hyenas every night of the week. He follows Kion to a ledge and watches as Kion uses the Roar of the Elders to drive away the so-called hyenas.
Bunga licks termites off of a stick
Later, in the Lair of the Lion Guard, Bunga notes that things have been fairly quiet since they drove away the hyenas as he eats a termite. Beshte reminds him that Kion did most of the work, and Bunga agrees, but notes that they had his back as he scoops more termites into his mouth. Fuli hopes that Bunga is done eating, but Bunga declares that he's not even close, and points out that there are termites everywhere. Bunga happily licks termites off of a stick Kion gives him, slurping loudly and thanking his friend. Ono flies in, reporting that a tree is falling down with the Mekundu Bats asleep inside. Bunga is doubtful when he discovers that Ono is afraid of bats, and the egret defends himself. Kion leads the Guard to help the bats, and after running back to grab a quick snack of termites, Bunga follows. After running across a log to get over a ravine, it shatters and falls, despite having held all of their weight before. Bunga suggests that it just got old, and they continue towards Mekundu Cliffs.
Bunga peers inside the tree
At the Cliffs, the group has to jump out of the way to avoid a falling branch. They try to awaken the bats, to no avail. Bunga pounds the tree, then peers inside. Spotting numerous termites, he declares that he's going in. He awakens the bats in time, but the tree collapses with him inside of it. He hears Fuli cry his name and emerges from the broken remains of the tree, eating some more termites. The Guard begins to question the number of termites in the Pride Lands, and Bunga reminds them that just because there are a lot of termites doesn't mean that there are too many. More trees collapse after his words, and he refutes his statement. Kion decides to consult Simba.
"Not possible!"
At Pride Rock, Bunga eats termites as Simba suggests that the Guard sees the aardwolves about the termite problem. He tells them that aardwolves like termites even more than Bunga, who declares, mouth full of termites, that such is thing is impossible. When Simba informs them that aardwolves like to inhabit empty aardvark dens, Bunga is amused by the irony of the situation, as they chased hyenas out of one a few days ago. Kion admits that he drove the aardwolves out of the Pride Lands thinking that they were hyenas, and Bunga remarks that he still thinks they are. It is decided that the Guard will find the aardwolves and return them to the Pride Lands.
"Hello!"
In the Outlands, Bunga expresses his appreciation at his decision to eat some termites before they left, as the barren canyon network has none. Fuli wonders what the plan is once they find the aardwolves, and Bunga suggests sneaking up on them. Soon, feeling that tracking is taking to long, Bunga leaps onto a rock and slips to find himself surrounded by aardwolves. He greets them cordially, but they flee. When the Guard catches up, Bunga announces that he found their targets and points in the direction in which they're going. The group pursues the aardwolves, calling for them. Fuli tries to stop them, but they bowl her over. She informs the others that they didn't stop, and Bunga notes that they noticed and adds that the pack's actions were odd. Kion realizes that the aardwolves are afraid of them, which puzzles Bunga.
Pinning Mjomba
Ono then spots Mjomba running towards a cliff. Bunga orders the Guard to allow him to handle it, and tackles the aardwolf, pinning him to the ground. Mjomba demands to know what he's doing, and Bunga explains that he was saving his life, causing Mjomba to thank him. He agrees with Mjomba's statement that things would have been easier if they hadn't kicked the aardwolves out of the Pride Lands. When Mjomba asks if he looks like a hyena, Bunga feels that he does. Mjomba wants to know what's in it for him if he helps them find his pack, and Bunga informs him that the Pride Lands are overrun with termites. Mjomba is happy to hear this, and leads the Guard away.
Beshte blocks Bunga
They find the cave where the aardwolves are hiding, and Bunga decides that a good plan is for him to go in alone. Beshte stops him, and the Guard all protest against this idea, with Beshte assuring him that it's nothing personal. It is decided that Mjomba will go in, and the aardwolf is excited at the thought of the unlimited amount of termites awaiting him back home, causing Bunga to remind him that some of the termites are his, as it's never too early to call dibs.
Bunga holds Goigoi
The cave soon seals itself from the inside. Kion leads them closer. The Guard soon breaks into the cave, where jackals are preparing to eat the pack, and Bunga grabs a frantic Goigoi's tail to stop him from either fleeing or attacking the aardwolves. He assures Kion that Goigoi isn't going anywhere, and soon releases the jackal per the cub's command. Flipping out of the cave, Bunga traps the jackals in their own home, ordering them to stay in there, then marches away proudly.
Bunga with his gift
Back in the Pride Lands, Bunga is feeling lethargic and upset. He tells Kion that he's fine, but admits to missing the termites. He feels that nothing can cheer him up until Ono brings in some termites that the aardwolves saved for him. Eating them, he declares that he feels better already, to the Guard's amusement.
At Hakuna Matata Falls, the Lion Guard are happily relaxing, whilst Bunga performs a few dives for them. After using the 'splash-less triple spin-a-rama' dive, even Fuli approves. Despite this, she passes on Bunga's offer to be taught the same move. Before Bunga can continue, a group of galagos cry for help and accidentally knock Bunga down. Bunga falls into the water below, splashing an irritated Fuli whose ears become covered by two galagos. Bunga pulls himself to shore with a group of galagos stuck to his body, happy to see them. Beshte approaches Laini and asks her what's wrong, and she worriedly informs them that a leopard has moved into their tree. Fuli becomes riled at some galagos which have grasped onto her ears, and, after Bunga removes one, she kicks the other off herself. Bunga tells her that she didn't miss much, and that the galagos wanted to stay with them. Kion, however, disagrees, letting Laini down to the ground as he reminds her that they will be safer away from the leopard.
Just then, a cry for help emerges nearby. Ono scans the area and reveals a giraffe is stuck in a tree. Kion decides to save the giraffe first, and leads the Guard away to Ukuni Woods.
Once there, they see that Shingo has his neck trapped in the tree. He explains that he was trying to get the last of the leaves from the acacia tree, but as he extends his tongue again to reach them, it too, becomes trapped in the twigs.
Assisting Shingo
Kion sends Bunga up to help out and he does so, freeing his tongue (after examining it and declaring it to be bumpy) and then freeing his neck. Just then, screams alert them to the galagos' presence, where the galagos once again stampede over to the Guard, grasping them in similar locations once more, and even ambushing Shingo in their panicked frenzy. Once again, Bunga is pleased to see them. When asked why they did not stay, Laini tells them how they heard a 'pfft' sound, followed by an awful smell. Bunga comments that it was likely his uncle Pumbaa, to which Ono agrees with. Whilst Kion is adamant about the galagos returning to Hakuna Matata Falls, they insist once again on joining the Lion Guard.
Listening to Badili
Back at the galagos tree, the Lion Guard spot the sleeping leopard. The galagos are told to wait behind whilst they deal with the leopard. The Lion Guard approach the tree, and Kion orders the Guard to surround it for when the leopard wakes up. Kion gives the go ahead, and Ono startles the leopard, who drops down to the ground, growling intimidatingly at the Lion Guard. As the Guard approach, the leopard becomes jittery and wails loudly, pleading with the Guard not to hurt him. He explains that he thought they were baboons, which confuses Bunga. The leopard further explains that they were chasing him in his dream, introducing himself as Badili the big, friendly leopard. When questioned why he kicked the galagos out of his home, he asks what they are with slight fear. When presented with the galagos, Badili frightens them away and it soon becomes apparent to the Guard that he is no threat to anyone. When asked about his own home, and Badili confirms that it's in Mirihi Forest, where Ono recognises is from the Back Lands. Despite his attempts to stay, the Guard agree that he must return home, and they escort him back to Mirihi Forest.The Lion Guard escort the leopard home, but not without him making many excuses along the way to delay his return. Badili assures him that there's nothing wrong and slinks away, thanking them for accompanying him. As he leaves, Bunga decides to check out a watering hole that Badili had mentioned, but Kion orders the Guard to continue following Badili in secret.
"You mess with him, you mess with us!"
They spy through a bush, where Badili is cautiously scouring the area. Although Bunga is itching to leave, Kion is adamant about staying. They watch Badili scratch his claws on a nearby tree, when suddenly another leopard named Mapigano leaps down and roars, frightening Badili. They soon notice the new leopard is bullying Badili, and question why he does not stand up for himself. It soon becomes apparent that Badili is too scared to refute any of Mapigano's harsh words, and the Lion Guard decide to intervene. The Lion Guard intimidate Mapigano, who eventually decides to retreat after insulting Badili and claiming that they were 'friends'. When Mapigano leaves, Badili is excited and thanks the Lion Guard. He confesses that he was too scared to fight back, and the Guard understand. They leave Badili to settle back in his home.
An eager Bunga
Soon, the Guard are back to their patrol in Embamba Canyon. Fuli is glad they don't have to deal with them anymore, even though Beshte and Bunga agree that they were cute. Bunga hears Laini's voice, and Ono confirms it as she rushes up to Kion. Sure enough, she informs them that Badili is back in their tree. Bunga is sceptical of her claim, finding it hard to believe that it could be Badili again, but it turns out to be true. The Lion Guard approach the sleeping leopard, and manage to get him down. Badili is glad to see the Lion Guard, and when asked what happened, he reveals that Mapigano returned. Badili asks if they can chase Mapigano away again, and although Bunga promises them that they will, Kion refuses, stating that they need to teach Badili how to stand up for himself, since Mapigano did not need a fight to run away. Badili reminds them that they're the Lion Guard, though he is reminded himself that Mapigano did not know that - all he saw where animals that would not back down. The Guard agree to teach Badili how to be more confident, with Bunga excitedly agreeing to show him how to be brave. Bunga also suggests that Ono can teach him to fly, before realising what he suggested. Badili eventually comes around to the idea.
Training!
As they teach Badili how to Find Your Roar, Bunga leaps out and startles Badili. Instead of responding directly to Bunga, he chooses to run. After more training, Badili leaps out and startles Bunga instead, which they both laugh about. At the end of his training, a loud roar emerges from Badili's throat, impressing the Guard. Badili is finally ready, and thus they return to Mirihi Forest. Along the way, the Guard double check what Badili is to do, with Bunga asking what Badili will do if he tries to scare him. Badili responds clearly and confidently, that Mapigano isn't scary. When Badili walks towards his tree, Bunga confirms with Kion that they will be keeping an eye on him.The Lion Guard watch from a bush as Badili stands up for himself, with Bunga declaring that he will be using one of Badili's lines. Unfortunately, Badili begins to break as Mapigano intimidates him, and the Guard become concerned. Badili eventually regains his focus, and ultimately manages to frighten Mapigano away, much to the Guard's delight. They congratulate Badili before returning home.
Snuggling
Instead of returning to Hakuna Matata Falls, Bunga decides to revisit the galagos. When the Guard catch up to him, he is snuggling with three galagos at the top of the tree. He casually drops down and snatchs Laini from the ground, offering her a hug. Laini comments that perhaps the leopard wasn't so bad after all, as the rest of the Guard laugh joyously.
Bunga and the Lion Guard are checking the Pride Lands after a storm, when suddenly Janja, followed by Cheezi, Chungu, Nne and Tano, slide down in front of them. Janja attempts to weasel his way out, but Cheezi and Chungu reveal his true intentions. Bunga watches with slight amusement as Kion sends them on their way using his Roar, and the Lion Guard continue their patrol.
Laughing at Twiga's 'joke'
As they are walking along, a mudslide falls down, blocking the path from Big Springs to Mekundu Cliffs. Kion tasks Bunga and Ono with keeping other animals away from the mud slide whilst the rest of the Guard clean up. They do so and as Twiga approaches them and attempts to move past Bunga denies her access. He explains why she can't pass and Twiga thanks them for the heads up. Bunga finds her words hilarious, assuming that she was trying to joke around. Twiga becomes confused, and Ono urges her not to pay him any attention. Just as she leaves, Thurston approaches in a rush, becoming offended when Bunga blocks his path. Despite both Bunga and Ono trying to inform him of the blockage, he rushes away regardless. Bunga hopes that he'll make it, but Thurston soon calls for their assistance after he falls in the mud himself.
Assisting Cheezi
Having done their duties, Bunga and Ono return to Kion, Fuli and Beshte, who have finally cleared up the debris. They question what happened to the mud covered Bunga, who only asks if they would believe a zebra would do it (to which Fuli responds with, 'I could'). Ono swoops up after hearing a commotion, and reveals two animals trapped in a mudslide headed for a cliff. Bunga assists the smaller creature, which turns out to be Cheezi. The other creature turns out to be Chungu. The Lion Guard are positive that Janja is nearby, and Kion sends Ono to check. Cheezi and Chungu become excited over their leader's possible return and explain to the Guard about what happened. After a short discussion, it is decided that they can stay, provided they clean up after the animals by eating only the carcasses, thus completing the Circle of Life instead of interfering with it, although Bunga can't help but feel that it's a bit weird. Cheezi and Chungu are only too happy to oblige, and chow down on a nearby carcass.
Helping the antelopes
Soon, Ono finds a stampede of sable antelopes running towards Rocky Plains instead. Bunga and the Lion Guard rush over and assist them. Whilst most of the Guard are unsure exactly what started it, Kion is certain that they are to blame. Bunga disbelieves Kion, until he explains that it is most likely connected to Cheezi and Chungu. The Lion Guard return to the sleeping hyenas and wake them up, but it soon becomes apparent that whilst Janja was involved, they were innocent. They mention that it must have been 'dream Janja', and the Lion Guard realise that he must be around somewhere. After hearing the leader call out nearby, the Lion Guard soon rush to where Janja is trapped once Ono locates Janja on a rock at the side of a cliff. Janja is furious at the betrayal of his new team members, but equally disappointed to see the Lion Guard. He gladly spills the beans and explains what they were up to, and the Lion Guard rush off.
Watching them leave
Bunga and the Lion Guard make it to Nne and Tano just in time, and Kion uses his Roar of the Elders to throw them back into the Outlands. With the main danger over, the Lion Guard return to the hyena trio to check on them. The rock has collapsed, but the hyenas are safe, and run back to the Outlands together, with the Lion Guard watching them leave.
The Lion Guard are out on patrol. All is pretty clear, aside from an impending rainstorm which Ono reports. He suddenly notices Mzingo's Committee circling nearby. Concerned, Kion orders Ono to lead the way, and he and the Guard run off to see what's happening.
Comforting Baby Baboon
Once they reach the vultures, they discover that they are chasing a Baby Baboon. Bunga extends his arms and embraces the Baby Baboon, promising that the Lion Guard will save him. Sure enough, they force the vultures to retreat. They settle briefly near the edge of a river, but a rainstorm lashes out and causes a wave of water to push the Baby Baboon into the river and wash him downstream. Kion calls for Fuli to race after him, since the others won't be able to catch up in time.
Discussing the next stage
They catch up to Fuli and the Baby Baboon, who is snuggling up to the cheetah after she saved his life. Beshte comments that he must like her, and Bunga adds that it's a shame that Fuli doesn't like baboons. She explains to them that she's fine with baboons, just so long as they aren't near her. Suddenly, Ono flies down and, before he can speak about his recent finding, Kiara calls over from a nearby island, doing it for him. Kiara explains that she, Tiifu and Zuri became trapped on the island after it was created in the rainstorm, so Kion sends Fuli off to send Baby Baboon home whilst he, Bunga, Beshte and Ono assist his sister.
Suggesting the Roar
A short while later, the Lion Guard consider their options. Bunga suggests letting Kion use the Roar of the Elders to push back the water, but Kion refuses, since it would likely destroy the island as well. Kion then suggests that they make a bridge. They do so, but the plan backfires and pushes more of the island away. They soon learn that Kiara had a similar idea which also failed, and Kion suggests combining the plans. Bunga and Beshte get behind a large rock, ready to act out their side of the plan.
Pushing the rock
Shortly after Kiara confirms that she'll go along with it, a chunk of the island underneath Tiifu and Zuri's feet collapses, and the two fall into the water, causing concern for Bunga. Kiara swiftly rushes to the edge and grabs them with her teeth, pulling them to shore. Bunga breathes a sigh of relief and, once Kiara gives the go ahead, Bunga returns behind the rock and he and the rest of the Guard push the boulder into the water. The the lionesses push the tree over on their side and onto the rock and safely join the Lion Guard, sans Fuli.
Speaking with Fuli
Having helped assisting Kiara in her efforts, Bunga and the rest of the Lion Guard watch The Royal Buffalo Wallow from a distance. Fuli then joins them, having completed her mission. Bunga comments that she is no doubt glad to be free from the Baby Baboon, to which she admits that she is.
Bunga, his friends, and some young animals are listening to Rafiki tell a story about The Zimwi. When Rafiki states that the beast only enters the Pride Lands on nights of a full moon, Bunga points out that tonight is one. After a bellowing sound is heard and the source revealed to be Beshte, Bunga remarks that he recognized the noise. Rafiki makes to leave, but Bunga begs him not to go. After Rafiki finishes, everyone is going off to bed. Bunga breaks into a battle pose and declares that he'd like to meet the Zimwi. A gust of wind sweeps by, and Bunga excitedly mistakes it for the Zimwi. When Beshte suggests the Guard sleep together, Bunga agrees and proposes spending the night at Hakuna Matata Falls. On the way, Bunga comments on Beshte's bellowing.
"Yeah! Or get eaten trying!"
At Hakuna Matata Falls, Young Rhino awakens the Guard, reporting that the Zimwi is in the Pride Lands. Bunga asks if he really saw it, and the calf claims he did. A scraping sound interrupts them, causing Bunga to cover his ears. It turns out to be Timon, who wants to tell them about the Zimwi, to Bunga's surprise. Kion then vows to drive out the Zimwi, and Bunga adds "or get eaten trying!"
Bunga scares the genets
During the search, Bunga calls for the Zimwi. Kion is skeptical, but Bunga still believes the Zimwi exists, asking Beshte if he does, too. Kion still doesn't believe it, so Bunga asks if he thinks it's something worse. Some genets come across them on their way home, and Bunga passionately terrifies them with rumors about the Zimwi before requesting that should they find the Zimwi, they keep it in place for the Guard. When the Guard questions his behavior, he claims he was trying to make them feel safe. Kion advises him not to mention the Zimwi to anyone else, and he agrees.
Bunga theorizes about the sound
Continuing the search, the group enters a woodland, where they encounter a panicky Thurston. Bunga believes him to be afraid of the Zimwi, but it turns out that Thurston was just running from genets. Bunga comments that at least he isn't afraid of the Zimwi, and the Guard continues on their way. Upon hearing a noise, Bunga suspects it to be the Zimwi's laugh, but once more, it's Beshte bellowing. They keep moving, and Bunga soon remarks that there's still no sign of the Zimwi or "whatever it is," though he still believes it exists, shown when he spots some eyes in the bushes and wonders how many the Zimwi has. Gazelles burst out of the bushes, which causes Bunga to believe that the Zimwi can fly.
Bunga readies himself for a fight
When the gazelles reveal that they were hiding from the Zimwi, and Bunga is enthusiastic when he finds out they too think it can fly. He stubbornly crosses his arms and glares when Kion claims that they heard it from him. The herd points out a strange shadow that Bunga sees two heads in. The Guard goes to track it down, but all spare Bunga flee at the sight of the animal they find. He prepares to take it on, but Beshte carries him away. The gazelles are not panicky, so Bunga helps drive them out into the open. He scorns the animals, but Kion blames the Guard. Bunga triumphantly points out that Kion thought the Zimwi was fake. When Kion declares that the Guard can't run away, Bunga affirms that he's been saying so all along. The Guard goes to face the Zimwi.
"It did have two heads!"
Standing before the creature, Bunga orders it out of the Pride Lands. When it rolls down in front of them, Bunga shouts his catchphrase as he charges it, but it surprised to find that it is not the Zimwi, but two porcupines. He asks about the "Zimwi"'s giant body, and Ono reveals that it's a termite mound, so Bunga happily goes to eat them. As he chews, he points out that the Zimwi did have two heads.
The next day, Beshte is about to bellow for the Bellow Fellows. When they say they loved it, Bunga removes his paws from his ears, surprised to hear it. As the hippos bellow together, Bunga states that it's scary.
Bunga and Kion are playing Baobab Ball in the Pride Lands, when a gazelle suddenly leaps out and startles Bunga. The gazelle cries that there's a hyena in the Pride Lands, and Bunga readies himself for battle. But when Jasiri pops out of the nearby bush, he recognises her as the one who helped Kion in the Outlands. When Kion asks why she's in the Pride Lands, she tells them that some lions have overtaken her clan's watering hole. Bunga questions if she actually saw lions, but Jasiri comments that she knows what they look like. Kion agrees to enter the Outlands with Jasiri to solve the problem, and tells Bunga to let the rest of the Guard know. Bunga informs Kion that they'll meet them there, but Kion is adamant that it won't be necessary. He and Jasiri bound away to the Outlands, but before Kion leaves his sight, Bunga picks up the baobab fruit and declares himself the winner before he leaves.
Listening to Ono's tactics
When he arrives at the Lair of the Lion Guard, he notices that Ono is preparing to race Fuli. After being asked to judge he does so, commenting on the race. He declares Fuli the winner, and an exhausted Ono settles down next to him. Bunga encourages him to try again since he nearly had her. Ono discusses tactics out loud which confuses Bunga, but a smile emerges when Ono announces that he's talking about winning.
Hearing the tale of the Outsiders
After a few more matches, Ono charges right into Bunga by mistake, still losing to Fuli. Bunga still encourages him to try again, but Ono admits defeat. Bunga tries to get Beshte and even Rafiki to try, but both turn down the offer. Rafiki then notices Kion's absence, and questions his whereabouts. This causes Bunga to remember why he had entered the lair in the first place, and he tells everyone that Jasiri took him to the Outlands. Beshte and Fuli ask why, and Bunga explains about the lions in the Outlands. Rafiki overhears this, and worriedly tells them that they aren't just any lions. He explains to them the story of the Outsiders, a group of lions that were exiled for refusing to accept Simba as their new king after Scar was defeated, long before any of them were born. Bunga, along with Ono, Fuli and Beshte rush to the Outlands to save Kion.
Meeting up with Jasiri
On their way, they bump into a disheartened Jasiri. She asks what they're doing there and they tell her that Kion might be in trouble, and ask if she knows his whereabouts. Jasiri then answers with disappointment that he's joined Zira and her family, and the Guard become worried. Jasiri realises with disgust that she herself should never have believed Zira, and they set off to save their friend.
Face off against the Outsiders
After finding Kion surrounded by the Outsiders, they rush in to save him with Jasiri. They corner the Outsiders, who don't back down since they outnumber the Guard and Jasiri. Bunga doesn't care, since Kion has the Roar. But Zira has poisoned Kion's mind into believing that Scar lost it when he used it against lions. Bunga scoffs, and reminds Kion that he lost it for using it for evil. Kion then remembers the truth, and uses the Roar to blast the Outsiders far, far away. When one of Zira's other children, Kovu, misses the blast, Bunga glares towards him angrily until he leaves. Back at the watering hole, Jasiri's Clan have returned. Jasiri comments that she is glad to have the Lion Guard as her friends.
The Lion Guard are chasing Janja, Cheezi, Chungu, Nne and Tano out of the Pride Lands. After they leap over the border into the Outlands, Bunga tells them to stay there and the Lion Guard return to their usual patrol. The Lion Guard soon hear their laughter, and Ono uses his keen sight to confirm that the hyenas are back. Disgruntled, the Lion Guard take off again to deal with them.
Thrown back by the Roar
The Guard catch up to Kion who sees his mother, Nala, surrounded by Janja's Clan. He uses the Roar out of anger to save her, pushing the hyenas back into the Outlands. Seeing the extent of the Roar, Bunga comments that it was 'UnBungalievable'. However, the Roar continues pushing forward until it hits the nearby cliffs. It then returns, much to everyone's surprise, pushing Bunga backwards with the force. After it dies down, Kion rescues his mother from a crack in the ground and after he reaches them, Bunga exclaims once again that it was 'UnBungalievable'. Kion asks if everyone is okay, and Bunga replies positively. So does Ono, but even Bunga frowns when he sees that Ono has lost his head feathers. He considers telling him, but Fuli suggests not to.
Trying to cheer up Ono
Back in The Lair of the Lion Guard, Ono is positive that the feathers will grow back, and not overly upset. However, he glances into the water and sees the true extent of the feather loss. He worries about what the other egrets will say, and asks if they think they will notice. Bunga exclaims that they definitely will, though after some gesticulation by Fuli, changes his opinion and claims to not have noticed himself. Beshte adds that his head looks just like a hippo backside, and that it's just fine. Ono becomes disconcerted, and Bunga tries to cheer him up by telling him to Stand Up, Stand Out.
Zazu arrives
Bunga then looks to Kion for his support, but Kion is already engaged in the lair paintings, notably the ones containing his great uncle Scar. Kion answers half heartedly, so Bunga decides to see what he's actually looking at. He cringes at a painting of Scar, telling him that, according to his uncles, Scar was the worst lion ever, dropping in that it's a good thing that Kion has the Roar now instead. Kion responds with tepid positivity before they are interrupted by Zazu, who explains that a rockslide has cut off the Giraffes watering hole, although no one was injured. The Guard start to leave, but turn around when they notice that Ono is not following. He wishes to stay behind, but Zazu ushers him out and the rest of the Lion Guard follow.
Standing up for Ono
The Lion Guard reach the giraffes who are waiting patiently. Twiga becomes annoyed as Ono swoops in front of her, and Shingo tells him to wait his turn, calling him an 'egghead' in the process. They laugh at the egret, and although Fuli and Bunga arrive to call off the teasing, Bunga only manages to make it worse. Kion then hears from another giraffe that the only way in has been blocked by some rocks. Bunga insists that he uses the Roar, but Kion decides to ask Beshte to move one of the rocks which should in turn knock the rest down, and snaps at Bunga when he continues trying to beleaguer Kion into using it. Beshte is at first hesitant, but does so regardless. He successfully knocks the rocks down, and the giraffes hurry across to get a drink.
Trying to save Kion
As the Guard walk back, they hear a cry for help. They discover a Klipspringer on a rock in the middle of a fast flowing river. Bunga again suggests using the Roar to stop it, but Kion quickly decides that he has a 'better' idea. He asks Beshte to knock down a withered tree and, once he has done so, Kion begins to walk across it. The rotten tree soon breaks and Kion is left in the center of it. Bunga, Fuli and Beshte try to save him but don't heed Kion's warning in time, and the entire log collapses. The tree bark hits Ono on his bottom, and the commotion causes the klipspringer to leap across to safety. The Lion Guard swim to shore, and Kion notices the klipspringer bouncing around nearby. When a member of his flock calls out to him, Ono notices that he is missing his tail feathers in addition to his head feathers due to a piece of flying bark and, despite Bunga trying to cheer him up, the egret becomes embarrassed by his appearance again.
Reassuring Kion
As the Lion Guard walk together, Bunga questions why Kion wouldn't use the Roar. Although hesitant at first, Kion confesses that, after what happened with his mother, that he no longer wants to use the Roar. Bunga exclaims loudly about it, and Kion hushes him, not wanting the other members to hear. He allows them to walk on whilst Bunga is let to laugh at his friend, believing it to be a joke. Kion is certain that he doesn't want to use it anymore, but Bunga manages to coax Kion away from the idea, claiming it to be more successful advice from Bunga the Wise.
The"Bunga Original"
Sometime later in the Lair, Bunga has given Ono a headdress made out of leaves and flowers. Fuli enters and Bunga tells her to wait her turn, and that he'll be with her in a minute. Fuli almost questions what he's doing, but instead explains that Makuu has taken over The Flood Plains. She orders Ono to locate Kion, and to tell him to meet them there. As he leaves, Bunga calls out that the headdress is a 'Bunga Original' and to be careful with it.
"I kinda did."
Bunga, Fuli and Beshte get over to the Flood Plains and approach Makuu, who mentions that Kion no longer wishes to use his Roar. Fuli and Beshte are left confused, whilst Bunga guiltily looks the other way. After a few more words are exchanged, Fuli takes on Makuu whilst Bunga and Beshte take on two other crocodiles. Bunga uses Beshte's snout to propel himself high into the air, and he comes crashing down on a crocodile snout to snap it shut. However, more crocodiles appear and surround them, and Makuu gets the upper hand on his fight with Fuli. He asks them if they really believed that he would try to take over with only three crocodiles, and Bunga admits that he kinda did.
Watching the Roar
Kion and Nala arrive on the scene and inform Makuu that he is welcome to share the water, but that he doesn't own it. Bunga splashes water towards the other crocodiles and tells them to heed their words, but Makuu's Float ignore them and knock Nala into the water, with Makuu certain that he won't do anything. After a while, Kion manages to find the strength to use the Roar in a unique way that allows him to save his mother, whilst also getting the crocodiles out of the Flood Plains. Once again, Bunga comments that it was' UnBungalievable'. Ono arrives, and Fuli notices that he's lost his headpiece. Bunga offers to make a new one, but there's no need - Ono's head feathers are growing back again. In the meantime, they discover that he's started a trend with the other egrets.
Bunga is carefully removing Zazu from a beehive, after he flew directly into it. When Bunga finally sets him free, Zazu starts to thank him but is scared away by the bees themselves. Bunga gladly takes over, chomping down on a few. Bunga then leaps down and gives advice to Zazu, receiving another half-hearted thank you from the hornbill. When questioned, Zazu explains that he was looking for the Lion Guard. He goes on to say that the pangolins are spraying everywhere. Kion leads the Guard away.
Bunga is impressed!
They locate the pangolins and are amazed by what they see. Two gorillas are holding a pangolin each, having a staredown. The gorillas, named Majinuni and Hafifu, start squeezing the animals under their armpits, causing them to spray. Holding his nose, Bunga mistakes them for baboons, and although Fuli believes they act like them, both Ono and Beshte are certain that they're not. Kion approaches the two foreign animals, and pins them down whilst ordering them to stop. When Bunga and the Guard approach them, they seem excited at the prospect of more friends. They inform them that they're looking for King 'Zimba'. When they realise that they're looking for Simba, the pair of primates ask if they know him. Bunga explains how Kion is Simba's son. Both gorillas question if Kion is a lion and a prince and become excited, informing them how they are both princes themselves. Bunga is confused, thinking that they meant that they are lions. Beshte is quick to correct him with this mistake. Shortly after, the gorillas start messing around, and Kion once again takes control of the situation while Bunga and the Guard watch. After they throw Ushari towards a Baobab tree, Hafifu shrugs off Kion's anger with a quick 'Kuishi Ni Kucheka'. They start to sing, but Bunga and the Guard still have no idea about it. The gorillas are shocked that they've never heard about it, and then try to sing it in a different key, though Kion stops them and begins to guide them to his father. As he passes, Hafifu grabs Bunga, who lets loose some flatulence in the faces of Ono, Beshte and Fuli, telling them that they're his kind of guys.
Greeting Simba
They return to Pride Rock, where the gorillas arrive walking upside down whilst flipping Bunga on their feet. Bunga tries to introduce them, but Simba already knows them from Kion. He asks for the message, but they reveal that they forgot what is was (whilst blaming each other). Simba then tasks the Lion Guard with taking them home to the Theluji Mountains.
Bunga wonders
The Lion Guard set out and approach the mountain base. It soon becomes apparent that the gorillas have no idea where home is, so they continue into a forest. Kion peers around and asks them if anything looks familiar, but Bunga assumes that he was asking everyone. When Fuli explains that he was probably talking to the gorillas, the princes become scared, assuming that their father is nearby. Beshte notices a chameleon (a creature which Bunga has not heard about) and considers asking it, but the two gorillas chase after it for a game of 'chameleon hide and seek'. They lose track of the gorillas, who try to turn the search into a game. The Lion Guard are unable to find them, so the game is changed again, this time with the gorillas snorting like forest hogs. But since the gorillas move around, the Lion Guard still cannot locate them. When Ono notices some moving trees up ahead, they follow him.
"Funny" Bunga
The Lion Guard enter the fog, but start to hear deeper snorts coming from behind them. It turns out that to be a real forest hog that rushes past them. The Lion Guard realise what must be happening and chase after them. Beshte wonders why it's so mad, but Ono speculates that it's because they believe the gorillas to be real forest hogs. Bunga jokes about them 'hogging' his territory, but his joke is shot down by Fuli. Kion is able to stop the forest hog from hurting the gorillas, and after the hog sees Bunga and the rest of the Guard, he hurries away. It is soon revealed that the gorillas don't want to go home having failed their mission. With a bit of coaxing, they continue.
Fun in the snow!
The Lion Guard follow the two brothers over a cliff, and are inquisitive of the snow that they find. The Guard have no knowledge of the substance, but start to explore it. Bunga is the first to start enjoying himself, though after Kion exclaims Kuishi Ni Kucheka, Bunga is soon bumping into Beshte and covering Kion in snow with his wily antics.
Bunga's souvenir
Bunga starts to roll a snowball and although Fuli wonders if it's meant to be thrown at her, he tells her that it's souvenir gift for his uncle Timon. Kion is then reminded of their mission, but when he takes a step back to look at the snow one last time, he slips back and starts sliding down the snow. Bunga starts to run for him, but Majinuni halts him with his hand. Instead, he and Hafifu offer to save him since they know the mountains, and they start to slide down after the lion cub. Bunga remains worried, though the two gorillas manage to save Kion in the nick of time.
Cuddling the gift
The team finally reach their destination, where their father, King Sokwe is seemingly about to admonish his children for forgetting the important message, forgetting their way home and needing the Lion Guard's assistance. It is then revealed that he was aware of how they saved Kion, so he was proud of them instead. Kion then reminds him that they still need to get the message back his own father. King Sokwe then notices Bunga's souvenir, and Bunga picks it up happily before remembering that it technically belongs to King Sokwe. Kion asks if it's a problem, but he denies it to be, telling him that it's 'perfect'.
Bunga delivers the message
The Lion Guard return to Pride Rock, where the night is slowly starting to encroach upon the land. Kion finishes explaining their adventure, and Simba asks if they have the message.After a bit of hesitation, Kion signals for the message, and Bunga leaps and throws the snowball on his head whilst yelling 'Kuishi ni Kucheka', seemingly angering the King. Simba starts to laugh, claiming that nobody delivers a peace message like King Sokwe. Simba shakes the snow off his head, and Bunga and the Guard begin to laugh.
Bunga hears from Kion that he will be leaving for Udugu, and that his father, Simba, will be left in charge. Bunga is excited about this, whilst Ono worries. Bunga assures him that there's nothing to worry about, singing (When You're) Running with the King to calm him down. Just as he finishes, Simba himself arrives, not happy with Bunga's little presentation. With Bunga's hair standing on end, Simba admits that Bunga did get one thing right during his performance - that he's excited to be working with the Lion Guard. Simba then asks if they're ready for Morning Patrol, to which the Guard respond positively. Simba then leads the Guard away.
Soon, the team begin morning patrol. When they meet a fork in the road, Simba starts to go down the left path before being informed that they usually go down the right. Simba reacts negatively and the Guard follow him down the left path, and Bunga assures them it will be fun.
Imitating Simba's smile
They soon witness an impending mudslide near the ostriches' nest, and that the eggs will slide off the cliffs if they are not saved. Simba orders the Guard to follow him, and Bunga does so without fail or question. However, the plan backfires when Beshte trips over a rock he was told to leap onto, and he collides with Bunga. Along the way down, Bunga grabs Ono and the trio slam into Fuli before finally smashing into a log which Simba had been using to stop the mud from reaching the nest. Bunga quickly grabs an egg and, after a bit of a struggle, Simba and the Guard manage to save them all. When Simba approaches the mud drenched Lion Guard and comments about it being their first success, Bunga still shows excitement.
Mud Slide
A while later, Simba, who is still enjoying his team's company, runs off ahead. The Guard comment amongst themselves about how he never uses their full potential, but Bunga isn't worried. Then, Ono appears with news, which Simba confirms. The gazelles need their help. They learn that Swala and her herd are trying to reach some grassland up ahead, but if they leap up the rocks they are likely to fall. Simba orders the Guard away, but Beshte is hesitant, asking his friends if they should remind Simba how easily gazelles can get spooked. Bunga is certain that Simba knows what he's doing, and they rush after him.

presence. They rush over to find Simba who never caught Ono's warning, and, although he is fine, he reveals that his tail is stuck. A short while later, Bunga inspects the rock holding the king's tail and comments that he was lucky. Just then, they hear some noises up above. Ono ascends to see what he can find, and sees the gazelles stampeding towards the ostrich eggs. Simba orders the Guard to leave him behind and to save the ostrich eggs.
Suddenly, more of the unstable rocks give way, and one falls towards
Shocked
Bunga, which Ono cries out about. Fuli swiftly pushes him out of harm's way, and Bunga thanks Fuli. Fuli tells him to thank Ono, and Beshte comments on what a great team they are. Noticing their teamwork, Simba realises that their team works differently, and asks what Kion would have them do if he were there. Fuli tells him that they would split up. Ono and herself would go after the herd, and Beshte and Bunga would stay to free him. Simba then declares those to be his orders. Before that happens, Bunga tells him that there's one more thing Kion would do. Simba then speaks the beginning of their catchphrase: "Till the Pride Lands end", and the Guard finish it with 'Lion Guard defend'!
Bunga assures Simba that he will be fine, though quietly warns Beshte not to roll the boulder the wrong way or it'll squish
"Bunga. You know I can hear you right?
Simba. Simba reminds Bunga that he can hear him, and Bunga asks Beshte if he knew that, and he responds with 'Yup'. He successfully removes the boulder, although the commotion causes the remaining boulders to collapse, and the trio run. Bunga is excited over the whole event, and, after Fuli and Ono join them, Simba admits that everything worked out because they did things their own way, and that Kion would be proud of them. He also adds that he himself is proud of them.
Bunga, Beshte, Kion and Fuli notice a large flock of birds flying in the sky. Bunga is amazed by the sheer volume, and they soon decide to follow them to a clearing. Ono calls them over to the front, where he has secured them a space. He explains how the legendary eagle, Hadithi is returning. Bunga questions who he is, and Ono comments that every bird knows about him, before Bunga points out that they're not birds. Ono is still slightly annoyed regardless but educates his friends on his idol, explaining how he's famous for his 'Hadithi Spin' move and how he'd love to ask him about it if he can pluck up the courage. He tells them how it is said that nuggets of wisdom fall from his mouth whenever he speaks, but Bunga sees it as no big deal, stuffing a beetle into his mouth and stating that he has the same effect.
"Yo, Hadithi!"
As Hadithi arrives, he takes a bow and a raven asks him to say something wise. The eagle replies with 'The higher you fly, the more they'll look up to you' which delights Ono who claims it to be deep. Bunga, however, sees nothing deep about the statement and instead views it as obvious. Fuli tries to calm Bunga down, just as Ono speaks about how amazing Hadithi is. Bunga then suggests asking him about his 'spin thingy'. He rushes forward and flails his arms, calling for Hadithi, but Ono swoops before him, angry that he dared to speak to the legendary eagle. While the egret starts to list off Hadithi's heroic deeds, the eagle lands behind him and starts to speak with Ono, eventually carrying the conversation into Hadithi the Hero which Bunga watches.
Bunga gets excited
Once Hadithi has finished, Simba and Nala arrive, praising the eagle and informing him that they would like to honor his presence with a Royal Mud Print Ceremony. Bunga becomes excited, before realising he doesn't know what it actually entails. Ono explains that Hadithi will press his talons in the mud so that when it dries, his prints will be preserved forever. When asked if he needs anything, Hadithi eventually requests The Traditional Ceremonial Nest, which the Lion Guard are soon tasked with creating. Bunga is adamant that this will be no problem.
Bunga sees a taller tree
Although Fuli has her doubts, Bunga remains positive. When they find a tall tree, Bunga confidently bounds up it, peering at his new surroundings with excitement and suggesting that they come up to join him. Fuli orders him to grab the leaves and come down, but Bunga instead lists off other locations he can see - Pride Rock, Mekundu Cliffs and the tallest tree in the Pride Lands. His enthusiasm drops on the latter, as it becomes apparent that he's not on the right tree.
Bunga trips
Later, having gathered the leaves, Bunga and Beshte walk towards the main ceremonial area. Bunga trips and the leaves fall, and he suggests leaving them there instead. He soon picks the leaves back up, and later places them in the correct area. When the ceremony begins, Bunga doesn't question why Hadithi arrives without Ono, and instead enjoys the event. But when Hadithi confesses that he's no hero and that a real bird hero is in danger, Bunga is quick to follow him and the rest of the Guard away.
Bunga cheers for Ono
After being led by Hadithi to Ono, Bunga and Kion decide to deal with Janja, who is after the klipspringers, while Fuli saves him from Cheezi and Chungu. Kion and Bunga try to dissuade Janja by reminding him that they block his only path back, he laughs, since he'd rather eat the klipspringers anyway. But Kion then calls for Beshte above, who pushes a boulder over the two cliffs so that the klipspringers can move across. With Bunga and Kion urging them to move and with Fuli guiding them, they start to move across. When one klipspringer falls, Ono and Hadithi step in to save him, with Ono doing the bulk of the work. Kion is not sure who's more impressive at first, though Bunga claims to know the answer and cheers Ono on, prompting Kion to do the same. The hyenas eventually fall to the water below after becoming too dizzy.Back at the ceremony, Ono places his talons in the mud while Bunga watches. When Hadithi praises the young egret, Bunga shouts out his support to his friend.
Bunga, Fuli and Kion hear an animal cry for help, and rush to the source of the voice. They locate Basi and Beshte, the latter of which the proudly tells them that they saved them. Bunga is impressed, suggesting that Basi should join the Lion Guard. But Basi claims to have his hands full with the Hippo Lanes and is then reminded that he needs to complete them. He stumbles on an injured leg, though is persistent in his desire to continue. Bunga tells him not to worry since the Flood Plains will dry up soon, though almost immediately after the group hear the rumble of thunder in the distance. Basi finally hands the job over to Beshte, who isn't sure he is capable just yet. After a bit of persuasion, Beshte agrees. Bunga exclaims that they'll help, but fails to get a single reed out of the ground. Sensing their presence will slow him down, Kion, Bunga and Fuli offer to take Beshte's father to high ground where he can rest while he proceeds with his new duty.
Assuring Basi that Beshte will be fine
After reaching a safe rock, Basi starts to rest when suddenly Ono swoops in. He explains that the sable antelopes' grazing grounds have become flooded but they won't move, meaning that they'll be completely underwater by the next incoming flood. Basi suggests they bring them there, since Beshte would have finished the lanes by that time. The Guard thank him for his suggestion, but Basi only wishes he could help his son. Bunga assures him that Beshte will be fine, and the Lion Guard race off.
Leading the herd away
Ono leads them to Bupu's Herd, where Kion urgently calls for them follow the Lion Guard so that they can reach higher (and, as Bunga states, drier) ground. Bupu initially refuses, though after hearing more reasons to move, Boboka persuades him to follow the Lion Guard. Shortly after, they moved across the side of a cliff where a rockslide separates the animals. Noticing the size of the rocks Fuli laments about Beshte's absence, but Bunga is confident that Kion can just use the Roar to blast the rocks out of the way. But Kion reminds him that the antelopes are on the other side of it, though the honey badger's words give Kion the idea to blast the rocks away from the other side, and the Guard start to climb over the rocks.
Bunga's idea
On the other side, Bunga notices that the antelopes are refusing to move again. Leaving them to sit, Kion then walks towards the rocks while Bunga assures the herd that Kion has got this, and for Bupu to hold onto his antlers. Bupu irritably refutes his statement, informing him that they are horns. Before he can say anything else, Kion uses his Roar to blast the rocks out of the way. Proud of himself, Kion looks behind him and calls for them to follow again. Although at first they still refuse, Fuli manages to get them moving. Bunga claims that their actions are "unbungalievable" but continues the journey.
Presenting the Hippo Lane
They arrive at the Flood Plains, where Bunga soon begins to beckon the sable antelopes into the new Hippo Lanes. He calls for the mother and her son to go first and they enter. Bunga then calls for another sable antelope, but Ono comes diving towards them, warning them that the new lanes aren't actually safe. When Bunga reveals that he just sent two of them in, Ono becomes concerned that they'll get lost. Kion then orders Fuli and Bunga to stay behind and make sure that they don't follow them in, while he and Ono search for the baby and his mother.
Bunga's okay with that
Upon their leave, Bupu starts complaining again, about how they were ordered around. Fuli points out that they were all good reasons, when suddenly the rain storm breaks out. Eager to believe they'll be told to move out of the rain, Bupu informs them that they're not going anywhere. Fuli and Bunga are okay with this, since it's exactly what they want them to do anyway.
The laneis ready!
After Beshte completes the new Hippo Lanes, Ono returns with the youngster and confirms that the new lane is safe. Bunga then calls for the sable antelopes to 'follow that hippo', but Bupu remarks that it looks so wet. After he and Fuli speak some more and the cheetah displays manners, they agree to go in. Bunga encourages them to go through. When Kion returns with Boboka, he watches the mother and son enter the lane, smiling with relief.Later, with the storm cleared, Bunga, Kion, Fuli and Ono approach Beshte and Basi, who are overlooking the new Flood Plans. Bunga then praises Beshte, commenting that everyone loves the new Hippo Lane. They then continue overseeing things from their vantage point.
Bunga and the rest of the Lion Guard are following Ono through a ruined Nyani Grove, who exclaims that a rhino is headed for the baboons' tree. They soon discover that the rhino has crashed into the tree, and the baboons are scarpering away. Bunga suggests catching the baboons instead, but is discouraged from his own idea when one of them knocks him over.
Bunga being sat on by Kifaru
The Lion Guard approach the rhino, named Kifaru, and agree to help him out of his predicament. With Bunga grasping onto his tail, the Lion Guard are able to help him get loose. Once free, Kifaru thanks the Guard for their assistance, telling them that they had no idea how it felt to be stuck like that. Bunga then squeaks that he does, since Kifaru is sitting on him. Kifaru raises himself and apologises.
Kifaru nearly hits Bunga
When asked why he's causing trouble, the rhino reveals that he was unaware that he was, despite the baboons' cries and the masses of logs on the floor. He starts to move forward but almost catches Bunga with his horn. He apologises and turns to walk the other way, nearly hitting Fuli instead. He issues another apology before walking away, heading straight for a tree. When the Guard question his behavior, Ono notices that his tickbird is missing.
Liking the sound of the deal
Ono swoops down and inquires about his tickbird. With a hefty sigh, Kifaru mentions Mwenzi, and how he left him for no reason. Ono then realises why he's been acting so strangely, and proceeds to tell a curious Bunga that rhinos have poor eyesight. Although Bunga fears that it will upset him, Kifaru admits that his eyesight is worse than most other rhino's. Ono then continues explaining how, for that reason, rhinos will often pair up with tickbirds, who will guide them and warn them of dangers they can't see. Fuli asks what's in it for the tickbirds, and she discovers that it is literally ticks and other insects that crawl on the rhino's back. Bunga proclaims that it's a great idea, to which Kifaru agrees, before singing about his friendship.
Bunga the Tickbird
Kifaru apologises again and explains how he was trying to reach Tamasha, an event where rhinos spar in the mud near Lake Matope. As he is speaking, he walks away tearfully. Kion decides that they will find Mwenzi, and Bunga suggests a temporary tickbird to take him there - himself. He leaps onto Kifaru's back and announces his new role. Although surprised, Kifaru accepts his offer and the rhino starts to walk away with Bunga snacking on the bugs on his back.
Advice from a "former tickbird"
Just after Beshte fares Bunga goodbye, Ono spots a problem. He immediately flies towards Kifaru, who is heading for a cliff. Bunga peers down with mild amusement as Kifaru halts with one hoof over a cliff. Ono orders him to move back slowly and Kifaru obeys. Bunga apologises for missing his mark, stating that he was too busy snacking on the bugs to see the danger ahead. Kion comments that Kifaru really listened to Ono, and the Lion Guard then decide to appoint Ono the task of being Kifaru's tickbird, much to his dismay. Bunga offers advice from a "former tickbird", but Ono angrily declines his offer before settling on Kifaru's back. After Kion and Fuli acquire Mwenzi's scent the Guard rush off, with Bunga asking Ono to save him some ticks.
Bunga sees a bird
Kion and Fuli continue tracking the scent, but with Bunga's observation, the Guard conclude that they've been in circles. But then Kion finds Mwenzi's scent on a tree, and Fuli confirms that it's recent. Bunga leaps into the tree in the hopes of finding him but to no avail. But soon, they see a bird whizz past them, which matches Beshte's description of Mwenzi. But because he flies by so fast, no one can tell if it's actually him. Kion devises a plan.
Mwenzi is captured
Beshte pretends to be a rhino looking for a tickbird to clear his back. As expected, Mwenzi arrives, only to discover no insects. Bunga then captures him, prompting Mwenzi to ask what the Lion Guard want with him. The Guard then inform him about Kifaru's accidental damage, and that he needs to return to him since he left for no reason. Mwenzi refuses to speak with Kifaru after what happened, leading Bunga to the conclusion that there was a reason. Mwenzi continues to explain how Kifaru was blaming him for being late to the Tamasha, even when it was his fault and how he always blames him for being late. But after a bit of encouragement from the Guard and being told that Kifaru misses him, Mwenzi agrees to speak with Kifaru.
Bunga hunts for bugs
When they return, Kifaru is praising Ono, which upsets Mwenzi. The tickbird flies over and declares that he is leaving forever, and Ono starts to fly after him. Although Kion reminds him that Kifaru shouldn't be left alone, Ono flies off anyway, ordering them to keep an eye on him instead. Bunga is initially excited at the prospect of more bugs as he leaps onto his back, but disappointment soon sweeps over him when he realises there are none left. The Lion Guard then decide to cheer Kifaru up by guiding him to Tamasha. However, Kifaru starts to wander the wrong way. The Guard quickly set him back on track.
Watching Kifaru crash
The Lion Guard eventually guide Kifaru to the Tamasha. But before he can join in, Ono swoops down and exclaims that Mwenzi is in trouble. Kifaru, still annoyed with him, claims not to care, until Ono mentions that Makuu is involved. Kifaru then shows immediate concern, and rushes off to save him. He crashes through several trees in his rush, but Ono confirms that he is at least going the right way. The Lion Guard decide that they need to go with him, and hurry after the rhino.
In a tight squeeze
The Lion Guard reach the watering hole just after Kifaru lodges his horn in a tree again. The Lion Guard start to attack the crocodiles, with Bunga eventually taking on one crocodile by herself. He gets himself in a bit of a sticky situation, but, thanks to Mwenzi, Kifaru manages to break free and knocks the crocodile away. When the crocodiles leave, Bunga watches the friends happily reunite.
Bunga's request
The Lion Guard then join Kifaru and Mwenzi at the Tamasha. The Lion Guard are happy to see everyone enjoying themselves, and Beshte comments that it must be nice to have a friend with you all the time. Bunga then asks if Ono would like to be his tickbird and arches his back hopefully, to which Ono declines, claiming that his tickbird days are over. The Guard then share a hearty laugh together.
One day in the Pride Lands, Fuli and Kion catch a strange scent in the air. Bunga assures them that it isn't him, and she announces that it's jackals. The Lion Guard locate the outlanders, and Bunga becomes infuriated as he discovers that some of the jackals have separated his friend Hamu from the rest of the herd. He and Ono are sent to rescue Hamu, while the rest of the Guard deal with the other jackals.
"Good guys 2. Jackals nothin'"
Once Hamu has been located, Bunga is quick to take down Kijana, who is sneaking up on the youngster from behind. After Ono strikes Dogo down, Bunga calls for Hamu to kick as the jackal pup approaches, and the zebra does so, kicking Dogo into the bush. Bunga then places both jackal pups on the ground, pleased with their work.
Once the Guard get the jackals to leave, Kion congratulates the Guard on a job well done, but Muhimu stops them from leaving. Still shaken up, Beshte suggests taking some time to relax on her own. As much as she loves the idea, she wonders what can be done with Hamu. Noticing how her son is playing so well with Bunga, she asks if Bunga will look after Hamu for a while. The young zebra is delighted at the idea and, once Kion asks if Bunga wants to do it, the honey badger gladly accepts. Muhimu is relieved to have someone responsible taking care of her son, missing Bunga as he leaps onto her son's back, covers his eyes and asks if he wants to leap off Hakuna Matata Falls.
"Zuka Zama!"
At Hakuna Matata Falls, Bunga is explaining to Hamu how to dive into the water even better. The two take a dive and start laughing, when Twiga softly calls for his attention. When he peers around, several other parents and their children are waiting by the water's edge. Twiga asks if he could possibly take their children as well. Bunga considers her offer, and although Twiga understands if he doesn't wish to take on more children, she is pleased to hear that he is happy to accept them. They leave, promising to be back before sunset.
The young charges ask what there is to do, and Bunga decides to teach them how to teke (kick), ruka (jump) and teleza (slide). He uses a fruit to demonstrate teke, and all the kids kick the fruit, eventually landing it back in Bunga's arms. Then, he shows the children ruka, by jumping over a log. Finally, he shows them teleza, by sliding down a hill into the water. As a final summary of the lessons, he sings to them about Teke Ruka Teleza.
The bravest in the Pride Lands
Bunga and the kids continue playing, with the children being in awe at Bunga's diving skills. But Reirei and her pack reveal themselves from behind a bush to spoil the party. Bunga is certain he can defend them all against the family, but Reirei pins him to the ground. The honey badger calls for the kids to run, and, after discovering that they are surrounded, cries "Teke" to them, and the kids react by kicking the jackals away. While Bunga deals with Reirei, he calls out commands to each of the kids, eventually declaring victory against Reirei's family. While the mother is in shock, Bunga rejoins his young charges and they tackle the jackals to the ground.
Group hug!
The Lion Guard arrive just in time to see the defeated jackals, with Fuli commenting on the amount of kids. Bunga is certain that word just spread about how great a babysitter he was. The jackals are then made to leave, just before the parents return to pick up their children. Bunga proudly tells them of how they bravely defended themselves against the jackals, which initially horrifies the parents. But when they learn that Bunga taught them how to defend themselves, Muhimu declares him to be the best babysitter ever. The young charges then gather around Bunga for a final cuddle, as Bunga claims that he knew it all along.
After Fuli knocks a baobab fruit away from Ono, the game continues with Bunga, Kion, Beshte and Mtoto racing towards it. Bunga leaps off a small ledge which breaks as Kion slides onto it. After a bit of banter, their game continues with Mtoto racing away with the fruit wrapped up in his trunk while Bunga chases after him.
Bunga tries to listen
The elephant halts suddenly, and starts to listen to a muffled voice calling for him. Mtoto explains that his mother wants him to return before sundown, which confuses the Lion Guard who can't see her anywhere around. Ono explains to them how he is using infrasound to communicate with his mother, which impresses everyone. Bunga wishes to hear more, so Mtoto uses his hearing to listen in on some animals. After hearing a couple of animals on their way to Pride Rock, Kion suggests that they're on their way over to his father's Savannah Summit. Bunga hushes them again, trying to hear through Mtoto's ears. Although he fails to do so, Mtoto warns them of a crocodile making his way over. Confident that it's Makuu trying to spoil the summit, the Guard make their way over to see for themselves.
Bunga helps out
Kion quickly subdues Makuu, only to be told that he was invited by Simba himself. When Kion wishes to speak with his father over the decision, Bunga leans on Makuu's snout. This angers the crocodile, who soon pushes back and growls, causing Bunga to fall. Once Kion has finished talking to his father, they make their way over to Mizimu Grove to the summit, with Bunga Welcome to the Summit by elevating Big Baboon to Bupu's height.Once they arrive, Bunga is quick to notice Makuu's absence. When Mtoto tells them that he heard Makuu at the watering hole, they race over to find the pair arguing. They manage to get both animals to leave, and Bunga comments about how they got there before Bupu was eaten by Makuu. Kion asks Mtoto to keep his ears open for them.
"'Bottom'. I get it."
It doesn't take Mtoto long to track down the Lion Guard, having heard Vuruga Vuruga and Twiga speaking about Makuu. When they reach the pair, they become nervous, not wishing to speak of Makuu. As they leave, Bunga and the Guard speak of how strange it all seemed, with Kion certain that it's down to Makuu. When they hear Zazu cry for help, the Lion Guard swiftly head over, only to find another misunderstanding, this time between Mbeya and Big Baboon. With Zazu stuck underneath Mbeya's backside, Rafiki tells the Guard that they must reach the "bottom" of the situation, prompting a laugh from Bunga who understands the joke. After they sort out the problem, Mtoto then calls them again having heard more from Makuu, and the Lion Guard rush off back to Pride Rock. But it turns out that Makuu and Bupu were merely trying to work out a deal. Angry at their lack of trust, Makuu leaves, refusing to deal with them anymore. After Simba scolds his son, Bunga allows him to leave for a while.
Speaking with Kion
Having heard more worrying news from Mtoto, Bunga rushes to find Kion and bumps into him in his haste. But this time, Kion wishes to work everything out before leaping to a conclusion, despite Bunga's positivity that it's Makuu's big plan. Kion eventually realises that Makuu was the target, not the enemy. Knowing that the plot takes place at sundown, the Lion Guard head off and find Makuu, who at first refuses to accept their offer of help. But when the crocodile falls into a concealed pit, Bunga and the Guard quickly work together to save him.
Chow down
Bunga then investigates the pit, scoffing at how anyone could fall for such a trick. The ground then gives way, and the honey badger lands right in the bottom. Surrounded by rotten fruit, he assures his friends that it's not that rotten, eating some of the fruit himself. When the group wonder who would want Makuu to land in a pit full of rotten fruit, he again reaffirms that the fruit isn't rotten, while Kion devises a plan.

At the summit, Kion stands before the other animals with his father watching nearby. He announces that Makuu fell into the pit but struggled to get out and has passed away. Twiga turns to Vuruga Vuruga and states out loud that they never meant for him to get hurt, and how they just wanted him to fall into the pit of rotten fruit. Bunga angrily states once more that the fruit aren't that rotten, just in time for Makuu to show up. Bunga gives the crocodile a hug in relief, before he is reminded by Fuli that he knew that Makuu was fine all along.
Fuli's joke
They worry at first that the summit is ruined, but Makuu surprises them by claiming it to be worthy of a crocodile. Kion then joins his friends, just in time for Mtoto to hear his mother calling him again. After he leaves, Bunga tells his friends that he's glad that he doesn't have Mtoto's ability, and that he doesn't want to know the other animals' business. Fuli then comments that he would pretty silly with ears that big, causing the Guard to laugh.
The Lion Guard are enjoying a quiet day on patrol, when a sable antelope starts to gather animals before rushing off with them. Curious, they stop Ma Tembo who also follows them, but she does not tell them where she is heading. Kion asks Ono to take a look, and confirms that no one is chasing them, but there are more animals running in the same direction. The Lion Guard decide to see what they are running to.
Bunga enjoys the show
They arrive at a sausage tree, where the animals have gathered underneath. Bunga suggests that they're awaiting the falling of the fruit, when one drops on his head. Suddenly, two baboons appear performing acrobatics, followed by a third baboon who introduce the latter two as Mwevi and Mwizi. He then introduces himself as Uroho, and his group as The Traveling Baboon Show. Uroho explains how they are The Traveling Baboon Show whilst performing several more magic tricks, much to Bunga's delight.
Trying to hint to Uroho
At the end of the performance, the baboons thank the animals for coming. Bunga is left yearning to be part of the group and dashes away to see if they would consider it, prompting Kion to introduce himself and welcome them to the Pride Lands. Bunga approaches them first, hinting towards a place on the show, but he's told there are no openings. Kion then welcomes them, suggesting that they visit Pride Rock and perform for his mother and father, and Bunga announces that his parents are the King and Queen. Uroho becomes a little nervous at his suggestion after learning that he's the son of the King, and informs them that they need to rest up for the next show.
Even the bugs are gone!
They then hear Ma Tembo calling for their help. When they reach her, she and several other animals are gathered near an empty patch of land.They explain how the tree had plenty of leaves and grass just that morning. Bunga also notices that someone has taken all of the bugs as well, leaving Ma Tembo to deduce that they have a food thief in the Pride Lands. Bunga is unable to see the big deal, until Ono explains that, with the dry season coming up, many animals need to eat more in order to survive it.
Detective Bunga
The animals leave, Ono investigates the tree. He explains that even the highest leaves have gone, so Bunga believes the culprit to be a giraffe. But he is quickly reminded that a giraffe couldn't flip the rock over. Bunga decides that it must have been an elephant. But when Beshte examines the grass, he finds that it has been completely eaten, leaving Bunga to suggest a zebra as the culprit. This offends Thurston from nearby, and Ono points out that some zebras are afraid of bugs, right in time for the zebra to panic and run from a caterpillar. After Bunga chomps down the bug, Kion suggests that it might be more than one animal, rather than just one. Bunga scoffs at the idea, and fails to get Ono's hint regarding their own team.
Wanting to see the show again
Suddenly, they hear a loud commotion. Ono checks, and states that it's just another baboon show. Bunga and Beshte are eager to watch it again, but Kion wishes to find out the culprit first. Hearing a lot of animals over there, Bunga tries to persuade Kion into investigating in case their culprit is there. Despite Ono's disinterest in the show, the leader believes it to be a good idea, and they start to make their way over. Still wary of what happened last time, Ono patrols from the air.
"Bungs and the Baboons"
The Lion Guard settle, with Bunga actually managing to perform a skit with them. After a bit, Ono returns with news of who the thieves are. Before he can tell them, the baboons grab him and start using him as part of the show by throwing him around, causing Bunga to envy him. When Ono breaks free he reveals that it's the baboons that are the thieves. Bunga is distraught by what he hears, and tries to make excuses for the baboons by asking where the food was. Kion asks Beshte to shake the tree and he does so, causing a large pile of food to fall to the ground. With their true intentions uncovered, the baboons start to run, with Bunga feeling betrayed.
Bunga knocks Kion down
The Lion Guard chase them across the Pride Lands, with Kion chasing Mwevi. He nearly manages to grab him, until Bunga accidentally slams into him with a failed leap. During their escape, the baboons startle a herd of sable antelopes, causing two of them to fall into a river. Bunga teams up with Beshte and, once the antelopes have been saved, Ono explains how they ran into the Outlands, but Bunga is too too angry at them to care.
Forgetful honey badger
Back in the Pride Lands, the Lion Guard discuss the baboons a little further, with Bunga forgetting why they were made at them in the first place. Fuli jogs his memory, and Bunga reacts to her nervously for forgetting, when Ono informs them that the baboon acrobats are being chased away by Janja in the Outlands. Ono points out that they wouldn't be in the Outlands in the first place if it wasn't for them, and they decide to rescue the baboons.
Bunga pushes Cheezi away
Once Ono has located them, the Lion Guard approach the hyenas, and soon end up attacking. Fuli enters a stand off with Cheezi, but Bunga knocks him away before she attacks. It doesn't take long for the Guard to win, and the hyenas retreat. Feeling bad over what they have done, Uroho asks if they can make it up to them, and Kion has an idea. They return to the Pride Lands, and Uroho hands out food to a queue of Pride Landers with the promise of a show as well. Pleased to see them helping out, Bunga watches the show happily.
Bunga and the Guard notice a stampede of hyraxes while on patrol, caused by a harrier hawk circling above. The hawk, named Mpishi, grabs a hyrax but is thwarted by Ono. Once she has plummeted to the ground, Lion Guard see to it that she leaves and walk the egret back home to his nest.
Bunga tries to leap on the egg
After they wish him farewell, the egret lets out a sharp cry, causing them to return. They discover an egg in Ono's nest, and Bunga gets excited about Ono becoming a mother. Beshte points out that he wouldn't be a mother, and Bunga realises that he'll be a dad, which Ono denies, since it's not his egg. After identifies it as a hamerkop egg, Bunga volunteers to take care of it, but is stopped by Ono before he can jump onto the egg. Fearing that Bunga would not be a good babysitter this time around, Ono agrees to take care of the egg while the Lion Guard task themselves with finding the mother. After Fuli and Kion obtain her scent, they race away.
Bunga gets the job done
As a storm starts to brew, they notice a mudslide near the aardvark dens. With a herd of red rock hares hiding away in the dens, the Lion Guard quickly round up all of the hares, with Bunga using his stench to force some of the hares out. With one hare left behind, Kion takes it upon himself to rescue her, and is ultimately smothered by the thick mud. Bunga starts to worry, but Kion manages to break through, and places the hare with the rest of her family, before they return to their original task of tracking down the hamerkop mother.
A Bunga approved nest
With the storm cleared in their area, the Lion Guard are able to find the hamerkop nest, with Bunga offering to check it out first. He comments on how large the nest is inside, before his attention is drawn to a large pile of grubs at the back. Without asking, Bunga starts chomping down, until the mother, Kulinda, returns and warns him not to get comfy there. After finishing the nest, she begins to panic in case something has happened to her egg, but calms down when she discovers that the Guard are only there to guide her back. Kion calls Bunga, who grabs a snack before he leaves. Kulinda hopes that Ono wasn't too upset taking care of her egg, but Bunga assures her that he was probably snuggled up with it.
"You sure there was a baby inside?"
Soon, Kulinda and the Lion Guard have made their way over to Ono's nest. Kulinda is horrified to find that the egg has hatched, but the baby is missing. Bunga asks if there was definitely a baby in it, before Kulinda starts crying out. Soon, her baby returns to her. They start dancing which enchants the Guard, until Ono arrives, calling out for 'his' baby, which shocks them a little. After a while, Ono informs the mother how the hatchling likes to chase insects, but during his talk, she wanders away from them. Ono notices her near the river edge and, despite Fuli's speed, she is unable to catch him in time. With Ono and Kulinda flying above, the Lion Guard start racing down the river. Before the hatchling falls off the waterfall, Mpishi returns and swipes her away. Angry at her return, Bunga and the Guard follow the birds from below.
Bunga leaps on Mwoga
Below, the Lion Guard feel helpless, until Bunga has an idea. He quickly climbs a tree and, when Mwoga is close enough, leaps onto his back, weighing him down. When Mpishi passes, he throws the hatchling to her, and she flies away. With no hatchling in his mouth anymore, Mwoga orders Bunga to get off. He does so, just in time for Mwoga to slam into the ground. The Lion Guard surround him and, without them even needing to say a word, Mwoga suggests that he himself goes back to the Outlands.
An adorable ending
Eventually, Ono and Kulinda manage to save the youngster, and return to the ground, where Kulinda announces that she will name her daughter after Ono. Bunga shares his concerns with having two Onos, but the proud mother explains that her hatchling is a female, and will be called Ona. Ono, Kulinda and Ona then start to use a bonding dance, which Kion finds to be adorable.
Bunga follows the guard during their Morning Patrol and directs the crocodiles to their hibernation cave. After that, he rolls on top of Ushari and then helps a giraffe out of a tree. He is then alerted by Ono that Ma Tembo and the elephants are under attack and rushes off to help. As soon as they arrive and see what the hyenas have caused, seeing enough, Bunga instructs Kion to use the Roar but the lion cub refuses, since using the Roar could hurt the elephants. Having another idea, Kion leads Bunga and Ono into chasing the hyenas out of the herd while Fuli rounds them up and Beshte sends them flying. After the hyenas are beaten Kion tells them to leave to which they do.
Speaking with Ma Tembo
After that, he goes to ask Ma Tembo if she and the herd are alright, to which she replies yes and thanks the Guard for the help. Bunga and his friends still couldn't believe that Janja would try something like that, but Ma Tembo understands because during the dry season there's less food to go around, especially in the Outlands. While Ono to keeps an eye on the herd in case the hyenas return, Bunga heads back to the lair with Beshte and Fuli.
Bunga tries to help a baboon
Soon, Bunga is alerted by Ono that the hyenas are back, and this time they are after the baboons too. He follows Beshte and Fuli to help while Ono gets Kion. Bunga tries to help the baboons by having them stay on top of the elephants, which doesn't work out, but everything changes when Kion once arrives and instructs the guard to lead the hyenas following the herd to a dead end. When Kion arrives at the top of the cliff he uses the Roar, calming himself just beforehand. With no way of helping Ma Tembo find water, the Guard leave.
Bunga enjoys the attention
Back at Pride Rock, Bunga is seen with the rest of the guard in the lair as Rafiki introduces Makini, his new apprentice. The young mandrill announces Bunga as the bravest, but the honey badger is more curious as to whether or not she is capable of making the paintings move like Rafiki. She tests it out on a painting of Scar to which Bunga calls "The worst lion to ever live in the Pride Lands". When demonstrating her ability to make paintings move, Makini asks about hearing the bad lions of the past. Rafiki explains how the Good Lions of the Past are seen in the sky, their voices are in the wind and Kion makes them appear every time he roars. As for the Bad Lions of the Past, Rafiki explains that they are summoned through fire and once that's done the bakora (when thrown into the source of the fire) can be used to talk to evil lions as well including Scar to which Fuli and the others find scary.
Hearing the bad news
A little later in the day, the Guard is alerted by Makini that Janja and the hyenas took Kiara, and Kion leads the guard away. They find out through Ono that the hyenas are taking Kiara to the Outlands and the lion cub figures out that Janja wants something from him or his dad. Bunga decides that the rescue will be easy, but Kion reminds the honey badger that he can't use the Roar on them if Kiara is surrounded, so Kion plans to lure the hyenas away while the others rescue Kiara. Bunga follows Fuli and Beshte as Ono scouts them another route without being spotted by the hyenas and once he does, Ono alerts the others that Kion's plan didn't work exactly, with only Janja leaving.
Saving Kiara
Understanding that they have to do things the hard way, the Guard decide to take down the hyenas themselves. After a battle, they rescue Kiara and start to leave the Outlands, but as they do the volcano erupts. After Beshte crosses a bridge with Kiara, it collapses, leaving Fuli and Bunga stranded on the other side. Seeing the predicament, Bunga hops on Fuli's back and she leaps over the lava flow and they all make it back to the Pride Lands. He hears Kion tell the Guard what happened and they all notice the volcano still erupting to which the honey badger finds "unbunga-lievable", but Fuli comforts him saying that they all made it out okay even Kiara and Kion takes pleasure in that and also that nothing else bad happened (unaware of the evil that was unleashed) as they all walk back to the Pride Lands. Bunga and the Guard meet up with Ma Tembo again who is still searching for water and once she finds the water source, the Guard helps with the digging and spring water comes out. Bunga watches with joy as the Pride Landers drink.
As the Lion Guard rushes after a herd of stampeding antelope, Ono notices a canyon ahead of them, and alerts the rest of the Guard. Kion agrees to his suggestion, and the Guard drives the herd into the canyon, accidentally awakening Makuu's Float, who are hibernating close to the canyon. After the herd has calmed down, Bunga notices Makuu, and Kion questions him. Makuu explains the predicament, Ono says that it was his idea; the honey badger points out that it was Ono's fault until he was silenced by Beshte and Fuli. He even comments on Kiburi's crankiness but Beshte adds on that he can't blame them because they did wake him up. Hearing this, Kiburi threatens Ono, but Ono is defended physically by Kion and verbally by Makuu.
Bunga tells Ono not to worry
Ono and Makuu explain the reason crocodiles sleep during the Dry Season, and Kion offers to take the matter up with Simba. Makuu agrees, and instrusts his float to remain behind whilst he speaks with Simba. Kiburi attempts to protest, but backs down under Makuu's intimation. At Pride Rock, Kion listens as Makuu and Simba discuss the situation, and Simba promises to help the crocodiles. Ono frets about the possible punishment that he will receive, and is comforted by Beshte and Fuli. Bunga also says that his friend has nothing to worry about until Kion calls him over suggesting he could by wrong.
Bunga lands on the crocs instead of the water
He hears from Ono that the crocodiles were spreading themselves out, and reports back to Simba, Kion, and Makuu. As Makuu had previously stated his desire for peace, Simba angrily questions him, and Makuu assures him of the disobedience of his crocodiles. He attempts to leave to handle the situation, but Simba stops him, requestng that the Guard deals with the issue, whilst they negotiate. Makuu agrees, and the Guard departs. Simba explains that they have a found a new source of water for the crocodiles to live in and asks the Lion Guard to take Makuu's Float to their home for the Dry Season. Once they've arrived, Kiburi scoffs at the condition of the watering hole, Bunga tries to look to the brighter side by showing Kiburi new home but it doesn't go well. Even though, Makuu attempts to reason with him Kiburi is appalled by Makuu's demeanor, and challenges his leader to a Mashindano. The Guard and the crocodiles are shocked by the announcement, but Makuu calmly accepts Kiburi's challenge.
Bunga and Fuli subdue a crocodile
As the animals watch the Mashiandano, Ono flies into the air, and notices three crocodiles leaving, and quickly reports back to Kion, who tells him to watch the situation, and informs the rest of the Guard. Ono deduces that the crocodiles are attempting to ambush Simba, and he rushes to inform Kion. Just in time, the Lion Guard arrives and stops the crocodiles' efforts. Simba overhears the commotion behind him, and arrives at the scene. He questions Kion, and Kion assures him. Simba realizes the plan, and states that someone else must've been behind the plot. Meanwhile, upon noticing Simba's absence, Kiburi backs out, and reveals his plot to the gathered animals. Simba approaches, and Kiburi responds with confusion to his presence. Kion states the involvement of the Lion Guard, and Makuu informs Simba of his innocence. Simba's assures him, and passes the task of punishing Kiburi and his followers to Makuu. Bunga watches Makuu banishes him from the float as per the rules of the fight, Simba banishes him and his followers from the Pride Lands completely.Later, Simba and the Guard watch Makuu's Float settle into their new home, and watches Ono issued a formal apology to Makuu and his float for waking them in the first place. Makuu receives Ono's apology, and forgives him and hears Simba suggest that this maybe the new crocodile way with Makuu agreeing as he swims with his float.
Thurston's Herd are stuck in the mud, and the Lion Guard soon arrive to help them. After deciding they need some water, Kion decides that all they need is a dark cloud and he can use the Roar to obtain water. Bunga is astounded that the Roar is capable of performing such a feat, and eagerly chants 'Do it!' to Kion. The cub does so and a storm is unleashed, loosenings the mud. Although Thurston is able to get free, other zebras still struggle to get themselves loose.
But it fails to cease raining, and the other zebras struggle to get loose. Although Bunga is adamant that it will stop soon, it doesn't. Kion orders Beshte to block the water while he and the rest of the Guard free the other zebras. They are able to complete their mission, and Thurston leads his herd away. When Kion turns to congratulate Beshte on a job well done, the Guard soon notice his absence. They conclude that the hippo must have been swept away by the water. With even Bunga starting to worry, Kion orders Ono to search for Beshte from above. The egret does as commanded, moving along the path of the dried up riverbed. They soon realize that Beshte would have wound up in the Outlands.
When Ono cannot find the hippo, Kion has the idea to check for footprints. Ono does so, and Fuli then suggests
*Sniff* "Pure Bunga"
tracking him by scent. Bunga tries to help, but only catches his own scent. After taking another sniff, he declares it to be "pure Bunga". After being told to stand behind them so as not to interfere with their scent tracking, Bunga wonders what else he can do to help. He gets the idea to loudly call for Beshte, which only annoys Fuli and Kion even more than before.
The Lion Guard struggle to pick up the scent, due to the water washing it away. But Ono eventually finds his tracks leading into the cave, and directs the Lion Guard to the cave. After examining Beshte's large footprint and being reminded that hippos do have large prints, they enter the cave. After hearing 'Twende Kiboko' outside, Bunga furiously starts pounding his fists on some rocks. Although Fuli tells him it isn't helping, he smirks when Beshte replies to his calls.
"At least we saved big B"
Beshte explains how the hyenas are dropping rocks on him from an opening to Rocky Plateau above him, and Ono starts to guide them around. When they reach the top, Fuli leaps onto the large rock to stop it from falling while Kion warns the hyenas away. Ono starts to peck at Cheezi and Chungu, but is caught by the latter's teeth. Before Cheezi can take a bite, Bunga stops the hyena, and Ono resumes pecking.
Kion backs the hyenas into a corner and Roars at the troublesome trio, sending them further back into the Outlands. Bunga starts to relax, glad that they saved Beshte. He leans on the rock that Fuli is holding and it topples over, causing everyone to worry. But Beshte arrives, much to their relief. Bunga comments that he thought he was going to have be Big B from now, but Beshte replies that he's still there.
Back in the Pride Lands, Kion apologizes to Beshte for causing the problem in the first place. Beshte tells him not to

worry, since he was only trying to help. Bunga expresses his joy in seeing the hyenas go flying, and tries to place a comforting paw on Beshte, but the hippo cries out in pain, having received sunburn from his time spent in the Outlands. When Beshte notices a mud pool, he quickly leaps into it, spraying his friends with mud. With Fuli mildly annoyed at being covered in mud, the Guard share a hearty laugh together.
With a fire starting to rage in the Savannah, Bunga rapidly digs to help create a trench. When the Guard have created a large enough trench, the fire finally settles at the edge of it. But the Guard notice that some zebras are still stampeding, and rush off to settle them. Bunga and Kion call for the zebras to stop, and they discover from them that dry lightning was the cause of the fire. With Ono leading them home, they discover Rafiki meditating on a tree nearby. They learn that a group of three noisy animals have moved in next to him. The Guard decide to see what they can do.
When they arrive, they see Makini, Chama and Mzaha cheering Furaha as he beats his bug eating record. Bunga

gets excited and races over to show them his own skills in the field, and Fuli comments that he has "three Bungas". They learn from Chama that they were kicked out. The elephant belches, followed by Mzaha and Furaha, and finally followed by Bunga who wanted to join in. The Guard offer to take them home and Rafiki insists, telling them that it's their part in the Circle of Life, which prompts them to return. After Ono lands, the Guard are given an animal to return home, with Kion and Bunga leaving to return Chama.
While Kion explains the situation to Ma Tembo, Chama inhales some sand in his trunk, shoots it out, and Bunga slides down his trunk and through the dust cloud. Bunga wishes to do it again, but when Kion sternly calls Bunga's name, he stops, though Chama jokes a little with the honey badger. Eventually, Ma Tembo agrees to take back Chama as long as he behaves. Kion and Bunga then take their leave, but as they head off, Bunga belches, causing Chama to burst out laughing and disperse the sand he had stored in his trunk all
Bunga proves he can have fun with anything or anyone
over Ma Tembo. Kion suggests just one more chance, and glares angrily at Bunga as he laughs.
The Guard regroup, and Bunga admits that he will miss the group, since he believes that burping your own is a talent. But Ono soon notices more dry lightning in the distance, and suggests they check the watering holes first, since it isn't safe to be near water during a storm. The Lion Guard race away.
In an enclosed watering hole, Zito and two hippos enjoy a drink of water. The Lion Guard arrive to lead them to safety after explaining how dry lightning works. But before they can leave, a lightning strike sets fire to the surrounding plains, and no way out. When they notice that Rafiki's Tree is on fire, the group work even harder to get out. With Kion's command, Beshte pushes a rock over which sets a path out. Bunga ushers the animals out, and Kion uses his Roar to douse the fire, before the Lion Guard rush to help their other friends.
They find Rafiki and Makini safe, and discover Chama, Mzaha and Furaha working to stop the fire. They quickly assist

them in their efforts, with Bunga helping Furaha by throwing dirt on the flames. After the fire has been put out, Rafiki thanks both the Lion Guard and the trio of friends, and offers his three saviors the opportunity to live next to his tree, if they can be a bit quieter. They politely decline, having found a place for their family to live near Big Springs. Instead, they are invited to Makini's Painting Ceremony.
At the ceremony, Bunga watches Makini paint a picture of the Royal Family, where he is amazed by her skills.
A herd of buffalo are stampeding in the Pride Lands, due to a swarm of Tsetse Flies. After Ono states that tsetse flies don't like water, the Guard lead the herd of buffalo in to a nearby river. After hearing Mbeya in trouble, they rush to his rescue. Later, the Guard help Mbeya escape from the mud. Bunga then eagerly jumps on Mbeya back and, begins eating the tsetse flies that surround him. Soon after, the Guard discover that the tsetse flies don't like the stripes on zebras. Kion then offers to escort Thurston's Herd along with Mbeya to the nearest watering hole, to which they agree. Later. Moda finds the guard, and informs them of Jasiri's capture. However, the Tsetse Flies make travel difficult. Kion convinces Thurston to accompany them on their journey, in hopes of keeping the swam away.
"They're no match for The Lion Guard"
Once in the Outlands, the group discover that the flies have vanished. Bunga is quick to remind them of Thurston's presence. Ono informs the group that, Tsetse Flies prefer the brush over the barren land landscape of the Outlands. They quickly dismiss Thurston, and he attempts to return the Pridelands. Ono notices several hyenas guarding the steam vent Jasiri is trapped in. Bunga, and the rest of the Lion Guard prepare for battle, but are interrupted by Thurston who is lost looking for the Pridelands. The Guard furiously point him the right direction.Thurston once again, follows the Guard by mistake. However, Jasiri stem vent is about blow. Kion confronts Janja's clan, and a large battle ensues.
Bunga relaxes on a defeated hyena
Bunga defeats two hyenas by jumping from a large rock, and landing on him. After Janja's clan are defeated, they gather around Jasiri's steam vent. Bunga recommends that Kion roar in to the vent and, "Blow the lava away". Fuli quickly dismisses his idea, and reminds him that the roar would blow Jasiri, and her cubs away too. Janja's clan counter-attack, but are again defeated by the Lion Guard. Soon Jasiri, Wema, and Tunu are rescued. She departs, and heads back to her clan, But not before giving her appreciation, and goodbye to the Lion Guard.
Honey Badger just don't care
They Return to the Pride Lands, and thank Thurston for his help. They part ways only to be surrounded by a swarm of tsetse flies. The Guard soon chase after the nearby zebra herd. Except for Bunga, who simply smiles, and says to himself, "I guess they really miss the zebras". He then eats a few handfuls of tsetse flies, slowly following his companions to the where the zebras are.
"What do the elephants call this ceremony again Kuba... Kubamusho? "
In Mizimu Grove, Ma Tembo is ordering her herd around in preparation for the upcoming Ukumbusho celebration. As they prepare, the Lion Guard enter the grove, followed shortly by Makini. While Makini prepares the paint for the event, Ma Tembo speaks with the Lion Guard, asking if they are ready. While Kion is enthusiastic, Bunga and the rest of the Lion Guard lack his spark, though agree nonetheless. After Ma Tembo directs them to a place where they can rehearse, they begin.
As Ma Tembo approaches the Lion Guard as they practise, Timon and Pumbaa arrive to help, though Ma Tembo
"I got this! ROAR""
suddenly remembers that previous Lion Guards have always been lions. Although Bunga reminds her that the Guard can't do anything about this, Makini offers to paint them to look like lions, and soon does so.
After Kion assures his friends that they look great in their new setup, Bunga starts to practise his line with Mtoto's Mom, who is posing as the bravest elephant. However, the honey badger struggles to remember his line, which causes Mtoto's Mom to become a little annoyed.
Performing the Ukumbusho Tradition
Soon, Simba arrives with his family, and the event begins, with the Guard singing "May There Be Peace", and telling the tale of Askari, the first Lion Guard leader, and how he brought peace between the elephants and lions, agreeing to protect each other and everyone who obeys the Circle of Life. The event runs smoothly, until a swarm of bees suddenly arrive, chasing the elephants away.
With everyone trying to avoid being stomped on, Kion leads the Lion Guard away to stop the elephants from causing accidental damage. Unable to calm them, Bunga suggests questioning another group of elephants who have stopped stampeding along the way. They realise that the bees are after the pollen from the paint.
After getting Fuli to move Vuruga Vuruga's Herd, they notice Mtoto spraying dirt onto the bees. Kion suggests
"Maybe he can't tell us apart, you know cause we all look like lions"
getting Fuli to direct Mtoto's spurts onto his paint and she does so, causing the bees to leave. Mtoto thanks Beshte which annoys Fuli, but Bunga considers the possibility that he couldn't tell them apart, since they were all lions. When Ono sees the other elephants heading towards Sehemu Pass, the Guard follow Ono's shortcut to beat them there.
Bunga watches as Mtoto sprays Ma Tembo when she gets stuck, and the bees disappear. Beshte gives Ma Tembo a gentle nudge under Bunga's supervision so that the same spraying technique can be used on Johari and Zito as they arrive. When Mtoto notices his mother is missing, Ono quickly locates her near Mapango Cliffs. When
"we bravest can do anything."
they arrive, Kion prevents Mtoto from heading up, fearing the weight will bring the cliff down. Instead, Bunga bounds up, and leaps onto the rampaging elephant's head. He eats the bees, which causes her to become aware of her surroundings. As she panics, Bunga soothingly reminds her of her lines, and that they're the bravest. This calms her, and they head back, narrowly avoiding the cliff falling down.
They return to Mizimu Grove, where Kion suggests that the show is continued but without the paint. After Simba suggests seeing it as a new tradition, Ma Tembo agrees. After Mtoto's Mom has her paint sprayed away, she reminds Bunga not to use her lines. He makes no promises, and the new show begins.
The Lion Guard stumble upon Janja, and his clan attempting to steal the elephants supply of watermelons. When
"Don't got it"
confronted, the hyenas try to escape. Fuli, and Beshte successfully retrieve ywo melons, passing them to Bunga. Kion loses control over a melon, Bunga trys to catch it. He fail. Bunga qustions how the hyenas were able to find the melon patch. Kion suggests gurding it in case the hyeans return, much to Bungas surprise.
Later. Bunga is playing catch with one of the melons. He asks Kion how much longer they will beon guard duty and that hyenas will return. Fuli disagrees, reminding Bunga that "Hyenas aren't smart" He's anoyd, but agrees. Kion sides with Fuli, saying they can't take any risks
I'll give ya something to smell"
Ono spots a group of animals being attacked at a near by watering hole, but is unable to see what's attacking them due ti the large dust cloud. The guard then move towards the chaos. They arrive, and question Kengas presence in the Pridelands. Kenge attacks, in the resulting fight ; several members of the guard being partly paralyzed from Kenges bite with Ono, andBunga untouched. He trys to fight, But Kenge is unimpressed. Bunga expresses his confidence. Kenge is still unimpressed, and states Smells like fear. Bunga responds with, "i'll give you smoething to smell". As he; turns around, points his backside at Kenge, and releases a large fart. Kenge retreats, and Bunga relishes in his stench of victory. After Ono tells Kion that Rafiki might have cure, he is ordered to find him.
"I've got good news, and bad news"
Bunga enthusiastically stays behind to watch over his friends, untill Fuli untill Ono returns with Makini, she asks Ono to help her look for some ponya flowers. He finds the flowers, but spots Kenga, and the hyenas moving in the melon patch. Kion orders Bunga, and Ono to stop them. Kenge trys to bite Ono, but is stoped when Bunga jumps on his head. Bunga runs to Makini in a nearby cave, and gives Kion the signal. The rest of guard appear on ege of the canyon.
