Just like the antenna helps an insect sense its surroundings, the Bakora Staff helps the Royal Mjuzi sense the Lions of the Past.

Rafiki, The Lion Guard: The Rise of Scar

A Bakora Staff is an object possessed by the Royal Mjuzi.

The Bakora Staff is used to aid the Royal Mjuzi in hearing the spirits of the Great Lions of the Past and the Bad Lions of the Past. It can also be used to bring the paintings on the walls of Lion Guard Lair to life. In addition to this, it is also used to help ground someone who is struggling to find shwari (quiet).

It is essential for an apprentice to have found a staff before being officially introduced to the royal family, as the king will place his paw upon it in welcome.

Sometimes a Royal Mjuzi or apprentice can have more than one stick that can act as their Bakora Staff if their previous one gets damaged or stolen, as seen in The Lion Guard: The Rise of Scar and Let's Help Rafiki!.

All Bakora Staffs have two gourds - one to represent the future, and one to represent the past.
